"Clearing" thru a Lawyer?
I wonder if Jackie had to clear thru a lawyer what could be published ??????
@hot cawfeee
In reading ^post I thought about why authors/publishers conduct pre-publication "legal reviews," and preventing plagarism & copyright violation came to mind. Another reason for "legal reviews" is detecting defamation of character, which is what my earlier post addressed and why I doubted the book defamed Diane's character.

@hot cawfeee If your question was about something else, & I misconstrued it, my apologies for any confusion. If your post meant a different kind of "clearing thru a lawyer" perhaps you could explain your question a bit further. TiA.

No worries Friend !!! I was thinking that in light of how litigious this case was ( am sure still is !!!) if anything written could be used by Danny, the Longo, family, Balducci family or any plaintiff. If Jackie "spilled the beans" on something that was to be kept secret from the public...or as they say "not for public knowledge"

I really wish that Jackie Hance had been as forthcoming as I believe she could have been, in her book. She got to the point where she said she loved and forgave Diane, but I don’t think she did, really. I don’t know if it’s true, but I recently heard that Jackie and Warren are now separated, which isn’t surprising, considering the loss that they have endured. Early on, after the accident, I was thinking that somewhere in Jackie’s mind, she must be partially blaming Warren, as well as Diane, for the loss of their children. When I read Jackie’s book, I got the sense that Jackie didn’t treat Warren like he was enduring the same loss that she was-she was withholding herself from him, and making him jump through (buying her a convertible Volvo) hoops to get her affection back, but she wasn’t there for him, it seemed. I don’t know, maybe this is just how her grief worked. It just felt, to me, like she partially blamed him. Maybe he encouraged Jackie to let the girls go, maybe he reassured her that Diane’s (assumed) drinking problem didn’t extend to driving.

Now there's questions that I have always had : What did Diane say to her brother? and Just what did her niece (Emma I think ) say to her Dad ???? What about her co-workers ? No one ever came forward from Cablevision and thats a big company...someone would talk for $$$ and/or to get a few seconds of fame.

I would be willing to bet that Cablevision made it clear that no employees were going to involve themselves in speaking about Diane, or they would be ex-employees. Nobody was going to pay one of them enough to speak about Diane, and if you have a good job, would you give it up? Besides, what would a co-worker really know about her drinking and pot smoking habits? Diane didn’t have time to go out drinking with them, regardless of what someone told the NY Post. They MIGHT know something about her relationship with Danny, but there isn’t any way to substantiate a conversation someone had with another person who is now dead.

I would like to know what she was like to work with...I had a former manager who was a gaslighting 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬. Her marriage was terrible and she took her anger out on her subordinates. She had a very passive-aggressive trick: when her husband was due for his daily phone call, she would grab a folder and walk out 5 minutes prior to his usual time. It forced one of us to pick up her phone and deal with him. He expected us to walk around the building and track her down.

Sounds like they were both jerks!

Jmoose...they deserved each other !!!! According to facebook they are still married....lol...misery loves company !

Bump, and question.

She was diabetic, right? Do you think it’s possible her husband swapped her diabetes syringes with some kind of alcohol?

I don't think she was regular diabetic; she'd had gestational diabetes during one of her pregnancies.

I am so curious to know what made her brain flip the switch from starting another regular week, talking about tickets to a play, to ok, this is it, and I'm taking these kids with me. I wonder if she was chugging the alcohol at the very end.

For those who think she committed murder/suicide (as opposed to a health emergency/accident), do you think she had fantasized about doing this, or was it just a spur of the moment act? And do you think if she fantasized about it previously, that she just imagined driving herself off the road, or did she specifically want to take the kids too? Were her nieces just collateral damage or was she upset or feeling jealous about something?

Has anyone listened to the Through Crime podcast called They Lied about Aunt Diane on Youtube? It has an entire convoluted story involving the mob and money laundering and Brian Schuler as an adult digging into his own past. It even has the results of a FUTURE trial date, for this coming December of 2025. Its interesting to listen to, tries to paint Diane as the victim, but I can't find a shred of proof to support it. It appears to have been released about a month ago, unless its been around in other forms that I am unaware of.

I don't want to link it here for fear it get mixed into the actual facts of the case. Why do people do this, using a true tragedy as a creative writing experiment and try to pass it off as actual events. I hope this doesn't become a thing with AI trying to fill in the blanks and people accepting it as fact.

It did, however, bring up one question for me:

Was Diane just driving around aimlessly that day, maybe not wanting to go home? Or could she have been meeting someone? I know originally she was running late and in a big hurry to get home because one of the girls had play practice. I would think it would be really risky for her to meet up with anyone during that ride, because the children were old enough to tell on her when they got home.

Also was there any dash cam footage available from those around her on the roads? I'm curious about her driving. Some say she was an aggressive driver normally, some say she was just a regular northern driver. Was she a regular road rager? Was this the only way she allowed her perfect mask to slip, by smiling at home and avoiding conflict, only to take it out on other drivers later? Everyone needs an outlet, was this the only one she allowed herself?

There was a large vodka bottle found in the van. IIRC the alcohol found in her stomach was pure alcohol, not alcohol mixed with something else. A lot of people have speculated she bought orange juice at McDonalds to mix it with the vodka. (The OJ purchase may have been a fact, and the mixer part speculation, I’m not certain.)

Supposedly the alcohol was something they kept with the camping supplies, to drink when they were at the campground, so there’s really no explanation as to why Diane had it in the minivan with her. It was her brother’s minivan so she definitely had to have brought it with her on purpose.

In the past I have speculated and wondered if she could have taken an Ambien the night before and had some kind of bizarre reaction causing her actions the next day. It’s all so inexplicable.
When I just read this I thought - vodka bottle in brother’s van. Surely, she wasn’t going to drop the kids off with the large bottle in view? When was she going to remove it without detection? Maybe the crash WAS premeditated…..

That's an excellent point. If the bottle of vodka was the one kept at the campsite normally, as Daniel said (I don't have much faith in what he says overall, so this may or may not be accurate), what made her put it in the van before she hit the road? And not packed in the back, either...right up front where it could be seen by others driving or walking by. And if it was a newer bottle, when did she buy it? Why did she not care if the kids saw it? How was she planning on disposing of it before arriving at her brother's house?

Does anyone know if orange juice was also found in her stomach, or just vodka?

Also, has anyone ever looked to see what her online activities were before the crash? What kind, if any, of forums she might have hung out on? I'd love to see what her interests and general complaints about her life were. was she happy with her home arrangement or was her loser husband starting to wear on her? Did she feel like she was in competition with her sisters in law? Did she compare her kids to her nieces and nephews? Was her job going ok? Have any former coworkers even talked about her? or friends, or even fellow church goers? It's been really quiet these past years.

She made all the "right" choices for her generation: education, good job, marriage, house, kids after she was settled...I'd like.to know if there were cracks first or if it all came crashing down during that one ride somehow.

(Above bolded by me) It would have been risky for her to have met someone unless that's why she stopped at the gas station and went inside. Footage showed her looking up and down the aisles and leaving without a purchase IIRC. If she was supposed to meet someone inside, it could potentially have been unnoticed by the children. Just my opinion.

Interesting thought, thanks for your post!

I don't remember if I've ever read the autopsy, however, it was reported that alcohol was found in her system. Here is the link (hopefully I am doing this correctly...)

Taconic Mom Drunk, Not Sick, Final Autopsy Says

A portion of that linked article reads: "The autopsy report rules out a heart condition or problems with Schuler's brain, such as an aneurysm or stroke. It does again confirm that she had alcohol in her brain and urine, along with her blood, stomach and eye fluid as has been previously reported."

IMO - the husband did or said something that was the last straw. Perhaps he didn’t arrive that evening as planned. Instead, he goes out and enjoys being ‘single’ for the night leaving her to unpack, feed and entertain 5 children by herself. Whatever excuse he made when he finally moseyed on up to the campsite the next day made her angry. She realizes he is a self centered, unintelligent man-child who isn’t a good father, provider or partner. If they divorce, she’ll be paying HIM alimony. She is depressed and needs to vent but, as usual, has to do 5 million things for everyone else so the resentment festers. The last night she stays up drinking & thinking (while he’s probably snoring like a baby) and feels like sh&t the next morning. Instead of helping her pack, taking his son in the truck with him and then following or leading the van during the trip home, he leaves by himself with the dog.
…….If only she was able to call the Hanses, plead a migraine and ask them to come and drive them all home…….
Anyway, I do think she had a meltdown, tried to self medicate and unfortunately, drove down the highway intentionally.

Yes, there was the equivalent of 10 drinks in her stomach, yet to be ‘digested’. And the THC level was high. She was pretty smashed IMO

I actually saw this video yesterday (well, I listened to it while cooking) and noticed several obvious ‘untruths’ in the first 10 minutes. Then as it went on, the story was so preposterous, I realized it was fiction and wondered why it was created in the first place. I thought it unlikely she would meet anyone, especially a love interest, when she had 5 kids in the car and likely had a hangover and didn’t have time to shower - and needed to get kids to play practice. I actually laughed out loud when they talked about her husband and BIL laundering money for the mob through their drywall business.
You mentioned the footage from the gas station. In the documentary, they show her walk in, look briefly, say a couple of words to the clerk and leave. Is this just a partial clip? Is there a full clip somewhere depicting the entire visit where she is walking down an aisle and stopped to look at merchandise? My interpretation of the doc clip was, she walked in looking for liquor, saw it and realized they don’t sell it until after noon on Sundays (Sullivan county liquor law) and that was what the few words she exchanged with the clerk were about. My speculation of course.
Also IMO, as a super Mom with history of dental issues and 5 kids in tow, I would bet that OTC painkillers and a first aid kit were packed and on board.
