I actually saw this video yesterday (well, I listened to it while cooking) and noticed several obvious ‘untruths’ in the first 10 minutes. Then as it went on, the story was so preposterous, I realized it was fiction and wondered why it was created in the first place. I thought it unlikely she would meet anyone, especially a love interest, when she had 5 kids in the car and likely had a hangover and didn’t have time to shower - and needed to get kids to play practice. I actually laughed out loud when they talked about her husband and BIL laundering money for the mob through their drywall business.
You mentioned the footage from the gas station. In the documentary, they show her walk in, look briefly, say a couple of words to the clerk and leave. Is this just a partial clip? Is there a full clip somewhere depicting the entire visit where she is walking down an aisle and stopped to look at merchandise? My interpretation of the doc clip was, she walked in looking for liquor, saw it and realized they don’t sell it until after noon on Sundays (Sullivan county liquor law) and that was what the few words she exchanged with the clerk were about. My speculation of course.
Also IMO, as a super Mom with history of dental issues and 5 kids in tow, I would bet that OTC painkillers and a first aid kit were packed and on board.

Right!? It made for a good story but was giving Daniel waaaaay too much credit, making him a front for the mob. I bet he has to use Velcro closure shoes cause he is so lazy and not very bright.

I also would like to see more footage of Diane's driving. Surely some of the cars around her that day had dash cams or a passenger filmed her antics for reporting her to the police. She was driving badly for awhile before the actual accident.

Happy to see the discussion continuing ! Brian is now of age (I hope he's doing good things in his life and has healed). I wonder if he has undergone hypnosis or would consent to it to uncover exactly what happened that day and even the day before ??

I just stumbled onto a slightly older case where a woman named Judy Kirby did almost the exact same thing in 2000. Wrong way driver asking for new trial

I'm new here so is it ok to link to that in a thread for a different crime? I couldn't find a thread for Kirby and don't know how to make one.

I wonder if Diane was aware of this.

Wow! I cannot believe I didn't know about this case! Thank you so much for sharing it - I've been reading about it for the past hour & looking up all of the roads, stops, etc. on maps. Just wow. So similar to this case!

I think it was murder-suicide, not pre-planned, but a split second decision she made once she realized Warren knew she was hammered. Diane was a control freak. When Warren told her to stay at the bridge, she instead left her phone on the guardrail and proceeded to drive like a bat out of hell, going the wrong way. She wasn’t going to face scrutiny, shame, possible rehab, or criminal charges. Death was a better option.
