The damning 64-page indictment accuses Linda Sun, 41, and her husband, Christopher Hu, 40, of spending their shady gains on a gaudy new $4 million house in Manhasset, a $2 million second home in a Honolulu high-rise and luxury cars such as a 2024 Ferrari.

At several points, Sun bragged about effectively blocking Cuomo and Hochul from making statements that arguably recognized Taiwan, including when the disputed island sent 200,000 much-needed masks to New York during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, documents state.

She also blocked representatives from Taiwan’s government from visiting the New York governor’s office, according to the documents.

CNN September 3, 2024 online article by Gloria Pazmino and Mark Morales entitled ‘Former aide to New York governor charged with acting as an agent of the Chinese government’:

Seems according to the article both Linda Sun (former deputy chief of staff / aide to the NY governor) and her husband Chris Hu have been charged in the matter. MOO

I’m always curious why it takes so long for public service employees to be arrested after they flaunt their enormous wealth with mansions, fancy cars, etc. This is different from the typical govt employee embezzlement case, but similar in how they flaunted their wealth

Accused of acting as a Chinese agent, NY governors' ex-aide now faces pandemic fraud charge, too

June 27, 2025

Linda Sun - who worked for Govs. Andrew Cuomo and Kathy Hochul, both Democrats - and husband Chris Hu were indicted Wednesday on bribery and other charges in the alleged mask graft.

"When masks, gloves and other protective supplies were hard to find, Sun abused her position of trust to steer contracts to her associates so that she and her husband could share in the profits," Brooklyn-based U.S. Attorney Joseph Nocella Jr. said in a statement Thursday.

Sun and Hu plead not guilty.

A former aide to two New York governors already facing charges of acting as an illicit agent of China pleaded not guilty on Monday to additional charges that she improperly profited from the state’s purchase of face masks and other key medical supplies during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Linda Sun, 41, and her husband, Chris Hu, 40, — who is also charged — entered not guilty pleas to charges of wire fraud, bribery and conspiracy to defraud the United States. Hu also faces tax evasion charges.

The two remain free on bond and are due back in court Aug. 25 ahead of an expected November trial.

Inside the downfall of Linda Sun.

The alleged Chinese agent who worked as an aide to Gov. Kathy Hochul landed on authorities' radar after she improperly obtained official proclamations for her father, a family friend and a Chinese government official, according to a document newly obtained by Gothamist.
