STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The missing Eltingville man served in Vietnam and survived both terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center, according to his*family.

Albert Karsten, 68, was working at Morgan Stanley when the towers were bombed in 1993 and during the Sept. 11 attacks. He escaped the second attack by fleeing down the stairs, his wife, Linda, said.

April 28 update

The family, along with the NYPD, the Port Richmond Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), religious groups and even dogs are looking for him.
The teams will post 500 fliers at the Staten Island Ferry today, and broaden the search into Manhattan.

"We feel like he's on Staten Island," Linda said.

From your link mom:

"Karsten didn't take any money, identification, medication or food with him, literally walking away with only the clothes on his back since he doesn't drive, said his wife."

"Karsten generally keeps to himself and has disappeared for short periods of time in the past, his wife said."

"Karsten was devoted to his job and hasn't developed any interests or hobbies. Several weeks ago he stopped working out at the South Shore YMCA in Eltingville, his wife said."
