Andrea Zamperoni left the popular restaurant around 9 p.m. Saturday and was supposed to return to work Monday afternoon, but he never showed up for his shift. He was last seen that morning at his apartment on 74thStreet in Elmhurst, Queens.

One of Zamperoni’s roommates said he recently moved in and didn’t know the chef well.

He’s described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, approximately 200 pounds with brown eyes.

Thanks for starting this thread - I was just about to open one and am glad to see the case is already here.

I'm concerned he hasn't been in touch with anyone. Would like to know what prompted him to recently move in with a new roommate who says he doesn't know him that well.

Seems out of character to go missing: “'So strange about this particular case because he’s not a guy that goes out or parties or whatever, he’s a hard worker,' said Dallorso."

Anyone find SM for him?

One of his roommates said he took an Uber at 2:30am Sunday and that’s the last they’ve seen of him. Hopefully that will provide a place to start searching.

Head chef of famed Grand Central restaurant Cipriani Dolci goes missing

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Police are searching for the head chef of a well-known restaurant in New York City.

Andrea Zamperoni, 33, was reported missing by co-workers on Monday when he didn't show up to work at Cipriani Dolci in Grand Central Terminal.

He was last seen leaving work on Saturday night at 10 p.m.

His co-workers are worried and say it is unlike him not to show up for work.

Zamperoni is originally from Italy and recently moved to New York in April. He has worked for Cipriani since 2008 at several locations.

"His mom calls, now I'm getting worried because I know Andrea is very close to his mom and brother, they talk every day," said co-worker Ignacio Albo.

There are other reasons for concern as well.

"Social media has not been touched, his phone has been off for four days," said Cipriani Dolci general manager Fernando Dallorso. "Bank cards have not been used."

Co-workers located Zamperoni's address and a roommate, who said he had gotten into an Uber at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday and had not been seen since.

Zamperoni's colleagues have been putting out flyers, hoping someone will have information on his whereabouts. His family, who is overseas, is on their way to the United States.

Uber is good news. If it's true that he took an Uber, there will be a record of it. This is a good lead.

Yes, there should be digital evidence of an Uber ride. I hope video too - to make sure the person was Andrea and not someone else in the car. (My suspicions are kicking in a bit.)

Good thoughts/ideas. When I read the Uber ride @ 2:30am, my assumption was that it was obviously him. But you are right, could have been someone else too. Luckily, LE will at the very least know the destination.

My other concerning thought is that I've noticed some people now use the word "Uber" generically, like we use "Kleenix" to mean "tissue." I hope it really was indeed a real Uber, not another type of car service or driver.

There's some conflicting information here. One says he was last seen at 9pm and then the roommate says he got in an Uber at 2:30 am. So, did he leave the restaurant, go home, then got in an Uber at 2:30 am?

Where would he be going at 2:30 am?

Need to get into his digital records. Who was he in contact with? I think that's going to tell the tale.

The way I read it is that he worked Saturday until 9:00 p.m. when he left the restaurant. He wasn't scheduled to be back at work until Monday afternoon but his roommate said he left in an uber on Monday at 2:30 a.m. It wasn't until he missed his shift on Monday afternoon that they were alerted that he was missing.

I think the Uber was 2:30 Sunday (so after his Saturday night shift and in the early morning of Sunday).

Right?

Ok, I'll change the date in the title to August 17th, which would match the missing poster.

Thanks!

My thoughts exactly. It is said he wasn't a "partier" so where was he going at 2:30 a.m.? Did he have a girlfriend/boyfriend that he was going to visit? I'm sure LE knows where the Uber took him.

The Uber ride was reported by the roommate. This doesn't confirm an Uber ride (or similar).

Maybe he did call for a Uber ride, and got an Uber ride.
Maybe he did call for a Uber, and never showed up for the pickup.
Maybe he never called an Uber.
