GUILTY NY - Andrea Zamperoni, 33, chef at Cipriani Dolci, Queens, 17 Aug 2019 *Arrest*

  • #81
"Police sources told CBS2 the 33-year-old’s body was wrapped in a blanket on the floor when found, “as if someone was going to dispose of it,” but a woman led the police to it first. There were no obvious signs of trauma to the body."

"The security video also captures a woman in handcuffs being escorted into a police vehicle."

No obvious signs of trauma. Overdose...?

Add to that - who is the anonymous tipster that called LE?

And who is the naked chick?
I guess when you find a dead body, you forget whether or not you have any clothes on.

“When I entered last night, we had to be escorted back into our rooms by the cops cause all my stuff was in there, and once we were in we couldn’t leave, so I had to stay the night,” said Avery Mullen, a tourist from Scotland staying at the hostel.

“There was a scuffle involving multiple people on the first floor,” he said.

Police are still calling the death suspicious due to the undetermined cause. The medical examiner’s office will determine the cause of death and noted the investigation was ongoing."

Wrapped "as if someone was going to dispose of it" - as opposed to him wrapping himself in a blanket. Interesting.

Overdose?
Homicide? If so, what is the motive?

I'm going with ODed with someone, and that someone panicked. For now. MOO

What's with the scuffle? Is the implication Andrea was part of the scuffle? Or other people arguing about Andrea? Or people completely unrelated. And, when was this scuffle?

so sad that such salacious details are released and we are all just wanting to know what happened... naturally of course... but his poor family and friends... devastating. So sad... LE is on it, though. Let's hope they can make an arrest quickly because someone knew something and didn't act.

I tend to agree with you. With no signs of trauma I'm leaning towards OD as well.

If I understood the witness correctly, the scuffle could have happened on Wednesday night, before the police arrived. If it happened four days prior, surely that would have been mentioned. Could that mean that Andrea was there still alive but dazed for days? The scuffle could also be unrelated.

I agree. Someone at least had the sense to call LE, even if anonymously. Gotta give some kind of credit for that at least.

She probably just found the body. Maybe it was in a closet or under a bed and wasn't spotted earlier. Perhaps the room hasn't been occupied for the past few days. All MOO.
Maybe the room hadn’t been cleaned by staff.

I am very curious as to what this "anonymous tipster" said to LE. And how does naked woman fit into all this? She lead them to his body when they arrived. Was she the one who called? Is she the one taken away in handcuffs?

It's been hot in NYC this week. If he were deceased since the weekend, wouldn't there be a smell long before now? And if he's been alive for days, why couldn't he call his mom?

And....the big question....why didn't anyone at that place notice?!

Yeah, this isn’t going to be pleasant for his family. I suspected a date and overdose as soon as I heard where he was found.

We will know soon enough.

RIP Andrea.

What a shame.

Maybe he was wrapped in a blanket because of the smell? Maybe no one noticed because the room was rented by another individual who kept staff out?

"The hostel where the body was found, located blocks from Zamperoni’s apartment on 74th Street, is a known trouble spot for drugs and prostitution, according to neighbors.

According to police, so far this year there have been 25 calls to 911 from the hostel, eight criminal reports for thefts and controlled substances, and two arrests as results of search warrants carried out at the location."

And if it is only a couple of blocks away, why bother with an Uber? Seems like a place within walking distance.

Do we have the two addresses handy - his residence and the hostel? I'd also like to plot out the subway station, which how I'm guessing he commuted to work.

I'm thrown by the Scottish tourist who is willing to have himself named in the paper and it being a "hotbed or prostitution and drugs". But I also tend to think of things you leave in the middle to do are usually not things you want known or are just more sketchy.

His poor family. :(

A list of everything strange about this case:

-Conflicting reports about when Andrea was last seen/the new widely reported date last seen (Monday) not meshing with the amount of time he's been out of contact

-Why was he at the hostel when it was blocks from his home and known for drugs and prostitution?

- The "scuffle" at the hostel: is this related to Andrea's death?

-The anonymous tipster reporting the body: was this person involved? Anyone else who found/saw/heard of a dead body would call the police instead of making an anonymous tip, right? Maybe they involved in something criminal or don't want anyone to know they were at the hostel.

-The naked woman: was she in the room with the body? Or just a hostel "guest" who heard about it?

-The handcuffed woman: was she the naked woman above? She was reportedly not involved so was she just a belligerent hostel "guest"/resident?

I'd also be interested to know his living situation. How many roommates? Did he lack the privacy to do "something" at home, which necessitated visiting the hostel?
