NY NY - Arkadiy Tashman, 17, Staten Island, 26 Jan 2005

A set of skeletal remains were found by a hiker in a Staten Island park recently, along with items that contained a 2005 calendar. It was said that the remains likely belonged to someone in their teens or twenties; I do hope it’s him, so his family to give him a respectful service of some kind.

''When cops arrived, they discovered the skull and a pair of boots — one of which still had a bone sticking out, sources said. Detectives set up a crime scene and found more bones — as well as a wallet with a 2005 calendar card, a rolled-up carpet, a glove and empty bottles of alcohol, the sources added.

It was still unclear if those items were connected to the human remains, which sources say are believed to have been from a man in his late teens or early 20s.''

IF it's really him, Arkadiy's remains would have been discovered almost exactly 16 years after he went missing.

I had a look at his Charley Project profile (Arkadiy Tashman – The Charley Project) again... it says:

"He resided part time with his parents on Brabant Street in the Mariners Harbor neighborhood of Staten Island, and part time in Bensonhurst with his adult sister, who was vacationing out of the country at the time of his disappearance."

According to Google maps, Brabant Street is close to Mariner's Marsh Park where the skeletal remains have been located.

If this is him, how terrible that he was so close to home and yet so far away this whole time.

I am new to this case. It's a heart-breaking one, and my heart goes out to his family.

Very sorry to ask but can someone say which UIDs he's shown as having already been compared to?
@carbuff or @victoriarobinson642
His NamUs: The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)

He was obviously a great teenager back then, and it would be wonderful if he were located safe, despite his lengthy disappearance, etc.
But just in case, maybe we should look at more UIDs, starting with NY and surrounding states...

I don't see how he could be this UID, though. Even if they are wrong about the UID's race, I think the height difference rules him out.
UID: 5' 0" - 5'4"
AT: 6' 0 - 6'2"

We should keep looking...
My opinions only.

Posted yesterday, he would be 34 as of 2022.

If I remember correctly, my sister went to school with him but she can't remember ever seeing him around. When he went missing, I had just transferred to PRHS. He was a junior right? just one more year and he would have graduated, off to college, living his life.

Unknown male found in Scotland October 2011 about 25 years of age looks so much like Arkadiy with the exception of his jaw. This is a newly constructed recon completed to generate new interest in hopes of identification.

UID had a chipped front tooth and previous injuries that appeared untreated.

Could he have returned to Europe?

Interesting article below.

Bumping up case.
He left a friend's house at 2:45 a.m. I wonder if he said anything to his friend to provide a clue about his state of mind or destination. Whether he had a backpack/items with him. And if heading home during the late hours like this was something he did sometimes, or was this the first time.

January 31, 2025

The NYPD issued an age-progression photo of a 17-year-old boy whose mysterious disappearance 20 years ago on Staten Island catapulted his family onto a “roller-coaster” ride into the unknown that continues to this day.

*****
In his teens, Tashman was an avid skateboarder who sported an earring in one ear. His sister has safeguarded the matching piece of jewelry all these years.

Voskresenskaya appreciates the NYPD’s continuing efforts to find her brother and the fact that a detective texted her on the 20th anniversary, especially since his family often “feels like we are the only ones who remember” their missing loved one.

Long article at link.
