Barbara Ann Lane wife mother of three and product of the prosperous Rottkamp and Schmitt farming families disappeared four months ago — and her family and friends fear she has been murdered
Lane who lived with her husband and children in Franklin Square vanished early on the morning of Monday, Aug 6 after leaving the home of her boyfriend in East Meadow She was reported missing by her husband Larry two days later and the Nassau County Homicide Squad soon took over the investigation Several relatives say she had expressed fears she would be murdered and her two grown children say they too fear the worst “There’s a strong possibility she is dead because we know she didn’t walk away from her life” said her brother Robert Schmitt 35 “It looks like foul play to us” Homicide detectives are more circumspect however noting that they can’t call it a murder when they haven’t found a body “Although we have no reason to believe she is dead circumstances surrounding her disappearance are unusual” said Det Sgt William 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 He would not say whether police have any suspects. But Larry Lane 41 while saying he is as mystified as anyone by his wife’s disappearance said he believes police have at least one suspect in the case — himself “It goes without spying especially knowing our relationship the way it was” Lane said in an interview last week “We weren’t the Nelsons or Ozzie and Harriet but we did cohabitate” Barbara Lane was born in Far Rockaway the eldest of three children and the only daughter of Ambrose and Clara Schmitt Her great-great-grandfather was Bernard Rottkamp whose family became prominent farmers on Long Island. Larry Lane a mason supervisor who renovates homeless shelters for New York City acknowledged in an interview that he and his wife had each been having affairs “We lived together but had separate lives” he said Barbara Lane’s boyfriend was the last person known to have seen her also acknowledged his relationship with her “She wasn’t happy where she was” said Frank Passantino 45 a baker who is separated from his own wife and met Barbara Lane in a Hewlett shopping center where she was working part-time in a bagel shop “We had a lot in common We were both unhappily married We both liked the same things Her life had been hell It was a terror” While Nassau’s Missing Persons Bureau is working with homicide detectives on the case police and others say they don’t believe Lane simply walked away from her troubled marriage because among those she left behind was her youngest child 10-year-old, John.

I never heard of this woman before. This is a very interesting case.

From the article, it appears that both Larry the husband and Frank the boyfriend were well aware of each other. Of course we can't rule them out and they could've been jealous of each other. But their comments sound like they were just resigned to living separate lives and seeing other people.

But Frank the boyfriend says he was also "unhappily married." Was his wife okay with this arrangement? Could she somehow come into play in this?

Then again, according to Frank, Barbara's "life had been hell. It was a terror." Was Larry making it hell? Maybe he wasn't so okay with his wife doing her own thing?

Rex Heuermann used email addresses with the numerals 080672 (Thawk08061972) and this matched a fake birth date he used to open other accounts under alias "Andy Roberts." I've always wondered if the August 6 portion of this wasn't a victim death date or a Jane Doe (victim) birth date.

To my surprise, the location where this woman lived is very near RH's known stomping and dumping grounds. The area from which she disappeared (East Meadow) is even closer to RH's home:

He mentions Southern State Parkway specifically in his "HK" document. He left the torso of Peaches in Hempstead Lake State Park in 1997. As you can see on the map, Hempstead Lake State Park is extremely close to where this woman lived.

A John Ray witness has noted that RH attended "swinger" parties in the mid-90s. Assuming this were true, he'd have no issue with more complicated sexual relationships were he aware of any, I would imagine. I'm certainly not saying this woman was his victim, and I'm also not of the mind that all his victims were SWs, by any means. I can't ignore the time frames and distance on the maps. I find it pretty eerie.

I hope not. But I do know people fear homicide in the case.

This lady somewhat fits her stats was found couple of weeks later in the Bronx.
Could she have shave her head so no one would recognize her?

Or someone else did it and made it lol like a suicide.. just a thought.
