Psych exam pending
Judge Michael Gaffey ordered Pazienza to undergo a medical exam and mental-health evaluation after seeing her in “pain” and “crying,” Aidala told reporters.

From the New York Post.

There isn't much on the web, but I'm guessing that is because she has scrubbed it before turning herself in (IMO). Anyone that knows her recognized her in the photograph. She spent the last few days preparing to be arrested, IMO.

This Newsday article has a lot of good information. And you were absolutely correct - scrubbed her social media.

Terrible. Seems like her fiancé was spared a bunch of misery and drama. I guess that the wedding is off. I wonder if she was on any medication?

<snip> At Tuesday's arraignment, assistant district attorney Justin McNabney revealed new details of the case, including how an intensive NYPD canvass for surveillance footage led to the identification of Pazienza as a suspect.<snip>

Long Island woman is arrested for death of vocal coach who she shoved in the street | Daily Mail Online

those cameras don't lie... good work on the part of the NYPD.

This probably explains why her lawyer has summarily dropped this mealy-mouthed nonsense about "All they have are pictures of her entering a subway station; and the victim was not pushed in the subway underground" (?!!?)

the DailyMail article says:

“Soon after the attack, she went back home to Astoria, Queens, quit her job at a store in Chelsea, deleted all social media and took down a website advertising her wedding this June, prosecutors say.”

That might explain why she was in Chelsea. And maybe the fiancé was picking her up after work?
I wonder what store it was…

^^BBM

Yes, perhaps she & fiance met prior to her shoving BMG. Maybe, an argument ensued and she stomped off. May have anger management issues and unleashed her wrath on an innocent, vulnerable victim. Soon after, she is seen on video in yet another "physical altercation" with her fiance. That doesn't bode well for possessing much self-control.

Charge her father with hindering a police investigation!

from your linked Newsday article:
After police put out video images and wanted posters depicting Pazienza, she tried to avoid capture by deleting her social media accounts, including a wedding website for her June nuptials, prosecutors said in court. On March 16, the day after Gustern died, Pazienza traveled to Port Jefferson to hide at her parents' home, prosecutors said.

An anonymous tip alerted detectives she was there, according to prosecutors. On Monday, detectives visited the home but Pazienza’s father said his daughter wasn't there and denied them entrance, according to prosecutors.

The troubled little princess will be out on bail very soon, her high-powered lawyer says.

$500,000 cash bail or a $1 million bond secured by property. Family is not poor, far from it.

This whole thing just sickens me. She needs serious prison time, but in reality probation and "community service" will probably be the endgame here. Money talks when it comes to hiring attorneys in New York.
Just sickening.

Yeah, and looking at the statute, it seems they'd have to prove intent to cause serious physical injury or death if acting under some kind of extreme emotional stress. If it's what I think it is, she gave the old woman a shove that just happened to initiate a chain of circumstances that caused her death. So the best they could hope for would be second degree manslaughter which, if they stick to their guns, carries (if I'm not mistaken) a maximum 15 year sentence. But that would be qualified by a number of factors, such as first offense, etc.

I'm getting a sickening feeling that this is going to turn into a media circus, given some of the comments her high-priced attorney has already made. Like here:

This probably explains why her lawyer has summarily dropped this mealy-mouthed nonsense about "All they have are pictures of her entering a subway station; and the victim was not pushed in the subway underground" (?!!?)

There's still a long ways to go, as police begin investigating, interviewing. She'll get a psych eval. The fact that she fled, hid, scrubbed social media, etc. shows she knew she did something wrong.

Thought bail was set low in light of everything.

I don’t know that she shove “just happened” to cause a chain of events that led to the woman’s death. I think most people know that if you shove an elderly person, hard, they’re more likely to fall than not and to sustain injuries. Older people are more fragile. But I agree that second degree May be more fitting here.

I also wonder if she was drunk or on drugs? Or if she has had any other run ins with LEO. Substance abuse problems? Not a defense though.

"Cesspool Socialite". Indeed. Sounds like she has a real attitude problem after reading the article above. Entitlement mentality. Hmm, sounds like "Afluenza defense". Poor little "Cesspool Socialite".

Very good article w/ legal analyst:

‘Consciousness of guilt’: Fatal NYC shove suspect may face more legal jeopardy for deleting social media

"The woman accused of pushing an 87-year-old New York City voice coach to her death may have helped prosecutors by fleeing and deleting her social media and wedding website accounts, legal experts say.

"Any time a suspect flees, you can expect that prosecutors may try to introduce that as what’s called 'consciousness of guilt,'" said Danny Cevallos, an NBC and MSNBC legal analyst.

She could have turned herself in "the moment that she found out that this was a news story" and that the push resulted in death, Cevallos said. "But she didn’t."

...

Cevallos said Pazienza could face greater charges, like second-degree murder, which includes "the death of another person under the conditions that showed that you had a depraved indifference for human life," according to New York penal law.

"It could be the case that prosecutors charged her with manslaughter just to have a reason to bring her in," he said. "They may, upon further review of their evidence, which may include video, decide that more serious charges are warranted."

The defense would be likely argue to that "this particular shove was not something that created a depraved indifference for human life," Cevallos said. "Sometimes a shove can be just a shove."

Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Justin McNabney said that after the shove, Pazienza walked away from the scene briskly, leaving Gustern on the ground, bleeding profusely from her head.

But then she stayed in the area, said McNabney, who said she got into a physical altercation with her fiancé minutes after the attack and then waited nearby long enough to see the ambulance arrive for Gustern"

NYC socialite accused in elderly shove death bullied classmates in school

NEW YORK – EXCLUSIVE: A classmate of New York City socialite and manslaughter suspect Lauren Pazienza said she bullied him in school.

Pazienza, 26, is facing first-degree manslaughter and second-degree assault charges after allegedly shoving an 87-year-old Broadway vocal coach to her death in an unprovoked attack.

A former classmate who spoke to Fox News Digital on the condition of anonymity claimed that when he moved a few doors down from Pazienza in the second grade, she began bullying him.

Lauren Pazienza has a history of bullying going back to her childhood. That is a red flag right there.

Lauren Pazienza: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com

Barbara Gustern sounds like she was an amazing person. Full of life and contributing to society. The picture of her, wearing red, with black boots, in front of a piano, shows a woman who seems to have been a pretty wonderful woman.

Knocked over in the street by LP, like a trash can.

LP seems like a true criminal. She stayed in the area to savor her actions. Watching her victim being placed in an ambulance. Then, LP quickly tries to erase her tracks. Delete social media, wipe internet of her picture. And her parents, let her hide in their house, lying to LEO about her whereabouts. Great folks. Zero values in integrity or honesty.

At the risk of repeating myself, APPLE...TREE.
