If one is low income, there are state funded daycares if you’re working. IMO there are a lot of people who don’t take advantage of this because they don’t want more government or mandated reporters in their lives... of course some people are just too proud to accept help.

Fly high beautiful Bella[emoji174]

I live in a New England low-middle/middle class suburb. I am familiar with the "state funded daycares" in my area and I never would have sent my child there. I cannot even begin to imagine what the centers in New York are like. Life is quite a bit different when you have minimal income.

Understood, but I’m from another region and to me that’s bizarre. From friends local to me, here in VA the funds can be used for most any daycare, just not like church preschools but those are usually only 3-4hours anyway so not even long enough for a work shift without outside childcare. Part of the reason I left my corporate job was that my family member who provided childcare passed away unexpectedly and even our “well regulated” and rather expensive local daycares have a laundry list of neglect and abuses prosecuted every year even with cameras, extra staff in rooms, etc.. There certainly isn’t a simple solution at all and I’m glad I’ve had the opportunity to be a stay at home mom. Given the choice though I’d hope I’d pick even a state run daycare over an obviously abusive boyfriend.

*** I’m not blaming the mother, I’m sure she felt like she had no other option

My God! The father found out on FACEBOOK! The mother didn't even contact him. Her real dad finds out his daughter is dead on facebook!
A Brooklyn father discovered his young daughter died on Facebook, two days after the child's stepdad allegedly abused her before she took her last breath.

Three-year-old Bella Edwards was pronounced dead on Monday. Police say the child appeared to have been both physically and sexually abused.

Her furious and upset biological father, Kellon Edwards, 35, revealed his ex-partner and mother to Bella, Shamika Gonzalez, failed to inform him about the horrific incident and he found out via Facebook on Wednesday, he told the New York Post.

'I didn't hear anything from [Gonzalez] until 7am today,' Edwards said, after his mother saw a Facebook post and first informed him.

Where was he for the last three years? Chances are he wasn't supporting or seeing her. Of course now he comes out, poor me[emoji35]

as a step mother, I can say that I do not love my step kids the same as my own. I do love them, care for them, want the best for them and love kids in general though. maybe these ppl are lacking somewhere, in general compassion or idk what.
I love your honesty.

I also am a stepmom to three amazing kids. It wasn’t until I had my son that I realized that I loved them on a different level than my own. It’s not to say I love them any less, nothing like that. But the bond and instinct aren’t there with them as it is for my son. I get it. However, I don’t get how ANY human can harm a child, related or not. That’s a whole new level of evil and I can not relate to that shiz!

As per an article posted above, she was covered in bruises new and old. If he was seeing her on a regular basis, he would have known.
Also I'm pretty certain I read that mom took baby and moved. All this is moo until I find the article.

I've thought this, too. Humans can have more animal-like behavior than is comfortable to acknowledge.

Besides trying to quiet a seemingly endless crying or whining a baby or young child or molesting the baby/child, sometimes the boyfriend/spouse/father/stepfather is just plain jealous of the mother paying so much (too much) attention to that little human being. The boyfriend/whatever just kills the child in a way that they think won't be determined to be murder, or he kills the child, hides him/her outside somewhere & declares that when he woke up from a nap, the child was gone -- walked out the (of course) unlocked door, or someone came in that unlocked door and took the child.

Yes, sometimes it is to hide molestation, or to stop that irritating won't-stop-crying, or just plain jealousy. Or all of the above.

We all know that this kind of thing shouldn't happen, and we want to see a change. Often CPS/whatever is not ever involved. Someone just does it and it's all over but the trial and LWOP for the inhuman being who did it. SMH. How to fix, other than the mother being more selective over her boyfriend/husband/baby-sitter? Tuff one to fix. Again, SMH.

Oh, she was a beautiful little girl. Tea parties, frilly dresses and ballet shoes, not molestation and murder.
