Assets in "diamonds and art" found in Epstein's UES mansion. "We're just relying on the defendant's word for all of this," Rossmiller says, referring to Epstein's finances. What is known about his finances should "alarm" the court, he adds.
*****We became aware today" of a passport issued by a foreign country, in the 1980s, expired currently, with Epstein's picture but not his name, Rossmiller says.
Rossmiller alludes to the police reports the government has submitted and reviews the known evidence of witness tampering. Judge Berman wants more information about that.

I think some didn't mind being "blackmailed". They may have been happy to pay him for a unique service they sought. He protected them, too. I also agree with some that he may have been involved with some money laundering as well, using his offshore business and bank accounts. Very lucrative trade. All JMO
I absolutely agree.

I think the blackmailing with the teens existed, but wasn't nearly as strong as other ways he entangled the powerful men. Money laundering is going to be at the bottom of all this, imo.

In certain circles, I don't think procuring young teens for sex is considered all that unusual and it could be dealt with. It's the money and the thrill of manipulating people and situations...that's what this was about, imo.

Do we know the name of the woman who lured some of the children into JEs trap?

Was there more than one female involved?

Tia

Imo
More than one.

Some of them were former young-teen victims themselves. It was a great way to ensnare the victims into becoming conspirators themselves - perfect way to keep them quiet.

Rossmiller slams Epstein's defense for pursuing "longshot, dubious legal arguments" at some future time. This case "will go forward," and he's confident Epstein "will be convicted," he adds.

The victim said the woman befriended her outside her school shortly after the victim's father had died from complications related to AIDS.

JMO

Snipped.

Such predators - circling around the vulnerable, like a child who just lost her father. She was easy prey....and also someone unprotected. There was no father to come pounding on the door.

JP knew exactly who he was picking as victims. Evil man.

Remember, these were pretty wealthy, powerful people always accustomed to lives of luxury. Epstein presented them with a package they couldn't resist - sex with young teen girls in a safe, high end, luxurious 5-star resort. Girls available on short notice, available for days at a time. Not some seedy hotel in a dangerous third world country, requiring extensive travel to areas where they have to bribe multiple public officials or some dark, dangerous back alley in a crime ridden city neighborhood. No shady, dangerous people to deal with.

JMO, Epstein was engaged in a kind of "soft" blackmail where threats were not explicit and where generous benefits was offered to clients. Keep in mind, many of these clients are extremely wealthy. Money is no object to them.

Judge and defense arguing back and forth
over whether Epstein is a danger

Epstein's counsel said his client would agree to any bond to "virtually guarantee" his appearance. "He would sign any bond and give your honor and U.S. District Court clerk with any collateral" the court orders.

Yep.

So what would compromise men of that kind of wealth and status? A loss of their reputation regarding their money. If there is a dirty trail in their finances, that would ruin them and disgrace them more than child rape. But child rape is also bad, of course, but can more easily bought off and hidden because it's kind of a "wink wink" activity among them. It's all about money.

For this particular criminal case, I want to justice for the victims. It's so easy for them to be lost in all this. Their lives were used and abused and they deserve justice.

But I also hope the girls and the woman reporter in Miami who stuck with the story will bring these so called "elites" down. That will be sweet.

Yep. Mom overworked, trying to take care of all the kids without dad. Typical pedo who knows how to choose and groom his victims.

Reminds me of the priests in the Netflix documentary, "The Keepers", about girls abused by priests who were supposed to counsel them, at Archbishop Keough High School in Baltimore, MD.

The Keepers | Netflix Official Site

They preyed on the girls who didn't have fathers or had troubles at home, who came to them for pastoral counseling and confession.

Berman is asking defense about N.Y. post report
Epstein was not in compliance
@KlasfeldReports
Epstein's counsel replied there has been no notice of violation, outside of media reports. Berman also presses him on sex-offender registration in New Mexico, where Epstein's counsel said he's not required to register.

Epstein's atty said payments after the publication of "Perversion of Justice" were not witness tampering

How do you think the girls were found in Epstein’s case? The priests were at the school.

Were there contacts at the schools that gave info on vulnerable girls?

Not sure about all the girls but I think a classmate or ‘friend’ gave Epstein info on the young woman who was on the Today last week

Epstein's lawyer says Madoff (ponzi schemer) got bail. I hope that argument doesn't work. Madoff wasn't accused of the same crimes as Epstein is.

Epstein might have committed white-collar crimes, but he used raping teens to do it. That's a whole different level. Not the same as merely scamming investors.

(Whoever thought there would be a worse financial criminal than Madoff?!)

Yes, I think it was a web he wove. Not a direct line to every victim, but a web. Various sources, not one, all tangled up.
