Epstein's ex-IT contractor quit over groups of unsupervised '15 and 16-year-old' girls on his island | Daily Mail Online
  • Steve Scully, now 69, said he worked for Epstein on his island dubbed ‘Little St. James’ across a period of six years, starting in 1999 before abruptly quitting
  • The chief owner and operator of a telecommunications business on the island at the time, Scully says he visited the exclusive retreat more than 100 times
  • He said an extensive collection of photos of topless women were seemingly being curated and then displayed throughout the island’s compounds
  • Scully finally quit after observing revolving groups of young girls –believed to be minors – continuing to flock to the resort without parental supervision
  • Epstein, 66, was denied bail on Thursday and ordered to remain in custody at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan until his sex-trafficking trial

Wish there were some more information to help verify Steve Scully's story.

I read through some of Dershowitz's November 2016 declaration in support of his motion to intervene in the Giuffra case. Recall he is seeking to have the court records unsealed as he believes they will show the allegations against him are false. I have to say, the declaration, even with all the redaction, is very persuasive. Though to be fair, I haven't yet read any of the opposing filings.

Do you have a link to the docs you're referring to? Sounds interesting to read.

Judge Bermans bail opinion 33 pages
Epstein-Berman-bail 7.18.19

Interesting Highlights

“Mr Epstein’s alleged excessive attraction to sexual contact-with or in the presence of minor girls-which is said to include his soliciting and receiving massages from young girls and young women-perhaps as many as four times a day-appears likely to be uncontrollable.

Accordingly, Mr Epstein’s past sexual conduct is not likely to have abated or successfully suppressed by fierce determination as his Defense Counsel suggests.”

“It seems fair to say Mr Epstein’s future behavior will be consistent with past behavior….”

Document details what they found in his Manhattan home. States “this newly discovered evidence also suggests that Mr. Epstein poses ongoing and “forward-looking danger”.

“Other serious offenses that are accompanied by the presumption of remand are: Kidnapping, Aggravated Sexual Abuse, Sexual Abuse, Offenses Resulting in Death, Sexual Exploitation of children, Selling or Buying of Children, Production of Sexually Explicit Depictions of a Minor for importation into the United States, Coercion and Enticement, Transport of Minors, Use of Interstate Facilities to Transmit Information About a Minor.”

“The Government alleges that Mr. Epstein “intentionally sought out-and knew that he was abusing-minors. Indeed, in some instances, his victims expressly told him they were underage before or during this time he abused them.”

“Mr. Epstein is reported to remark that “I am not a sexual predator, I am an offender”

“Mr. Epstein or his Representatives have Intimidated, Threatened, and/or Made Payments to Potential Witnesses.” “Assured one victim she would receive monetary compensation for her assistance in not cooperating with law enforcement.”

The parent of one of the victims reported to Palm Beach Authorities that Mr Epstein’s private investigator had aggressively driven the parents car off the road.”

“Another parent was being followed aggressively by Mr Epstein’s private investigator.”

“Jeffrey Epstein never once checked in with city Cops in eight plus years since a Manhattan judge ordered him to do so every 90 days.”

Mr. Epstein’s alleged failure to comply with his New York sex offender obligations would appear to undermine defense counsel’s premise that Mr. Epsteins “perfect compliance” and “meticulous obedience”.

“Attorney Brad Edwards contends that while Epstein was serving his Florida state sentence, Epstein was allowed to leave the jail on work release, While on work release, he was having female visitors and continued to engage in sexual contact while he was in jail.”

Need to get four times a day for Epstein out of my head

 Wow! Where to begin?

  • Evidence showed he was still actively pursuing criminal activity,
  • offenses resulting in death
  • engaging in sexual activity while in jail
  • bribing witnesses (we'd already heard about that)
  • selling or buying of children
The worst part is that, after his prior conviction, he was still pursing the same dangerous criminal activity. And everyone was looking the other way.
I'm not sure I even want to know what they found in his homes. Shudder.

Better late than never, I suppose. Still...

A lot of people should lose their jobs/have their careers destroyed over this. Massive levels of corruption at the federal and local levels in 2006-2008.

Thanks for all the details, everyone. I had no idea how bad this was. Gonna take me all morning to read all of it.

I'm only to the part where the old case is unsealed (wonderful).

Just to be clear, page 13 is not saying that Epstein did something resulting in death. “Resulting in death” is included in a list of the types of crimes that Congress said should not allow for bail. The judge is citing laws and precedents showing that Epstein’s offenses fall into this category, not that he committed all the offenses listed. I haven’t heard (yet) that Epstein committed an offense resulting in death. He certainly did enough to be denied bail and spend the rest of his life in prison though.

One of the teenaged girls Epsteinraped became a drug addict and overdosed or killed herself.
I’m not saying the Judge is blaming Epstein for that
just putting it out there

Lots of redactions in deputy logs. Here's another example. It's hard to tell what happened at different times while they watched Epstein

It may be true that Epstein was blamed for the death of a victim by her family, but in the context of what the judge wrote, “offenses resulting in death” is simply part of a list of offenses he cited that Congress considers a reason to deny bail. Please everyone, read page 13 carefully. Epstein did plenty of bad things, but I think we are going off the deep end to focus on “offenses resulting in death.” Doing that distracts from reality IMO. Just keeping it real, and in no way defending Epstein.

We've asked @PBCountySheriff if they would ask a third party to investigate. Spokesperson Teri Barbera told us, "outside agencies do not investigate internal agency policies and procedures." But law enforcement sources tell me if there was even a hint of a conflict of interest, or the misconduct directly involved Sheriff Bradshaw, then yes, an outside agency can and should be called in to run the internal affairs investigation

Here are some of the rules for Epstein’s work detail. Notice the special order for plain clothes. Epstein wasn’t allowed out of the office, not even for lunch! But we found a deputy log that says he did leave for lunch.

Epstein left his office for lunch. He left to scout for a new office space on Singer Island. He left to go to his Palm Beach mansion, and the deputy who followed him there didn’t even go inside.

Referencing the Defense’s request for bail:
“Home detention in Mr Epstein’s Manhattan residence”
Home Detention at the scene of the crime(s)? Where victims are delivered to him. Awesome idea Defense

Mr Epstein’s friend David Mitchell . . . “serve as co-surety”

“The Government filing was made against a backdrop of significant-and rapidly expanding-evidence”
Yay-new charges?

“. . . Nov 20 2018, two days after the series in the Miami Heralds began, defendant wired$100,000 from a trust account he controlled to….and individual named as a “potential co-conspirator”.

“. . . Dec 3 2018, the defendant wired$259,000 from the same trust account to….(individual also named as a “potential co-conspirator”.

?According to the Government, the second individual “is also one of the employees identified in the indictment, which alleges she and two other identified employees facilitated the defendants trafficking of minors, by contacting and scheduling their sexual encounters with the defendant at his residences in Manhattan and Palm Beach . . ."
Bet the four 30 something’s and Maxwell are sweating and lawyered up
Great summary! Thanks!

Does anyone know what the extradition status is with UK? In order for extradiction to occur does the UK resident/citizen have to be charged with a crime in the US? Or, can US authorities request that an individual be brought from the UK to US for questioning even though no formal charges have yet been filed?

Edited to add: UK–US extradition treaty of 2003 - Wikipedia
