Giuffre, who died in April, said some of the men who sexually abused her issued threats to her lawyers.

"One of those men's names has come up repeatedly in various court filings, and in response, he has told my lawyers that if I talk about him publicly, he will employ his vast resources to keep me in court for the rest of my life," she wrote in the book. "While I have named him in sworn depositions and identified him to the FBI, I fear that if I do so again here, my family will bear the emotional and financial brunt of that decision."

It is baffling that this NYT story fails to mention that many of these men financially tied to Jeffrey Epstein were accused in court documents of sexual abuse:


Weeks after Jeffrey Epstein died in federal custody in 2019 awaiting prosecution on sex-trafficking charges, JPMorgan Chase filed a report alerting the U.S. government to tens of millions of dollars of potentially suspicious transactions involving him and prominent Wall Street and business figures.

The so-called suspicious activity report that JPMorgan filed identified transactions with Leon Black, the co-founder of private equity firm Apollo Global Management; Glenn Dubin, a well-known hedge fund manager; the lawyer Alan Dershowitz; and trusts controlled by Leslie Wexner, the retail tycoon.

The nature of the transactions, as well as Mr. Epstein’s role in them, is unclear.

JPMorgan said in its report that it was flagging about 4,700 transactions, totaling more than $1 billion, because they were potentially related to reports of human trafficking involving Mr. Epstein…

Yet JPMorgan continued to do business with Mr. Epstein for years. The bank lent him money, moved his funds overseas and enabled payments to some of his sex-trafficking victims, The Times reported in September. Bank employees repeatedly raised concerns about the risks of being associated with Mr. Epstein, but senior executives decided to keep his accounts open.

Last month, Acosta was interviewed by lawmakers from the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform about the Epstein case. He was peppered with questions by Democratic Rep. Melanie Stansbury about whether his office investigated Epstein for “potential financial crimes.” Acosta said, “I don't recall a financial aspect,” according to a transcript of his interview the committee released this month. “We were focused on the inappropriate acts that took place in Palm Beach.”

The emails and documents obtained by Bloomberg show that Acosta was copied on correspondence related to the money laundering investigation.

I find it interesting that Epstein was someone nobody had ever heard of, and not long afterward he had a private jet, private island, mansion in Manhattan, and was hobnobbing with the wealthy and powerful. If he wasn’t a Russian asset, he certainly did a good impression of one. It was a honey trap, one of the oldest tricks in the book and maybe the biggest most expensive one in history. I can’t believe that people on that level would fall into such a trap, but I guess they did.
Having a private island outside the US and the UK may have made them feel safe in what they were doing. They weren’t. Having video recordings of them committing acts with underaged girls must have been powerful leverage. Who knows what policies have been formed and what decisions have been made under threat of revealing all?
It would be interesting to see all records become public, but that is not going to happen so long as the wealthy and powerful are still wealthy and powerful.

I’ve looked up the Sherlock Holmes story you referred to.

If Trump “didn’t bark” or tell someone what was going on with Epstein, what does that mean? Is Epstein saying that Donald knew what was going on and protected him with his silence?

I don’t understand how that fits in with “[Blanche] didn’t bark” (DTHB2) about the email to Maxwell. Is it that Blanche knew it was about Trump being protective of Epstein, so he protected Trump by not mentioning the email and just handing Maxwell a script in which she said Trump had never been inappropriate with the girls?

I’m lost. Sorry to be so dense, but you’re going to have to spell this out in really simple terms.

Blanche can clear this up, but instead refuses to state the purpose of his meeting with Maxwell. So Sherlock Holmes would say, "The purpose is Cover Up."
