“You and I had ‘gang stuff’ for over 15 years,” Mr. Epstein wrote in a draft of the letter, which was included in the millions of pages of Epstein-related documents that the Justice Department released last week. He noted that “I owe a great debt to you, as frankly you owe to me.” He added that he had “no intention of divulging any confidence of ours.”

It is not clear what Mr. Epstein was hinting at or whether he even sent the undated letter, which was addressed to “Les.” Mr. Wexner — the source of hundreds of millions of dollars of Mr. Epstein’s wealth — has not been charged with wrongdoing.

But the letter fit into a broad pattern in which Mr. Epstein toyed with the idea of telling his past, present and potential financial sponsors that he knew — and was keeping quiet about — their supposed secrets. The messages, written with stray punctuation and spelling errors, veered from menacing to sentimental.

Melinda is not the guilty perp. Keep the focus where it should be. IMO.
Yes, she is not Esptein, but looking the other way is not okay, especially when in a position of priviledge. If she witnessed child abuse and said nothing, that should be called out, imo.

I don't admire her when it looks like she is couching her words "that's Bill's story to tell" because of an NDA. My opinion.

My Opinion that might not match others' opinion.

Gabriela Rico Jiménez. Is this a legitimate case? Is this girl missing? I can find a lot of commentary via a Google search but nothing solid.. any conjecture here about her connection to elite modelling and her disappearance? Redirect Notice

Latvia has launched a criminal investigation into potential human trafficking after the release of documents related to late U.S. sex offender Jeffrey Epstein that included references to Latvian model agencies and models, police in the Baltic nation said on Thursday.

The investigation, which also involves Latvia's prosecutors and its Organised Crime Bureau, will centre on "the possible recruitment of Latvian nationals for sexual exploitation in the United States", police said in a statement.

This whole thing seems like a dirty problem in a dark corner and people are standing next to it with flashlights to shine on the problem but they refuse to turn the flashlights on (and secretly empty the batteries).

“I deeply regret having had any contact with Epstein. It is simply embarrassing,” she said in a statement issued by the royal palace.

In a new statement on Friday, Mette-Marit apologised again for her friendship with Epstein, who killed himself in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex crimes against minors.

“I would like to express my deep regret for my friendship with Jeffrey Epstein,” she said.

“I also apologise for the situation that I have put the royal family in, especially the King and Queen.”

This is what they all are saying. "I regret interacting with Epstein."

Honestly, I think the regret is their interactions have been exposed, not that they regret being friends with him at all. They have formed a Worldwide Elite Regret Club. My opinion.

Deputy assistant commissioner Hayley Sewart, of the Metropolitan Police, says: "I can confirm that officers from the Met’s Central Specialist Crime team are in the process of carrying out search warrants at two addresses, one in the Wiltshire area, and another in the Camden area.

"The searches are related to an ongoing investigation into misconduct in public office offences, involving a 72-year-old man.

"He has not been arrested and enquiries are ongoing."

Do you have a link to her having witness child abuse?

No, and I didn't claim she did. The word "If" is carrying a lot of weight in my post, as is my repeatedly saying it was my opinion. She said she found Epstein "abhorrent" (posted in a previous post) and I'm speculating that might have included child abuse (which he is known to have been charged with in Florida).

My opinion, which may not match anyone else's opinion.

Yep.

It often reads as a variant of the new non-apology apology -- "If [Person or Group X] in any way felt themselves to be hurt of offended by my words or actions in any way, then I offer my apologies that they so responded...blah blah blah..."

Such statements inevitably offload the onus of harm and even redress onto the absent or offended party, who are really themselves at fault for having felt that harm/ offence in the first place, whilst disclaiming any actual responsibility for having caused it -- as though being abused and exploited by powerful persons is something vague and subjective and not an objective, visible and dangerous (even fatal) fact.

It's an offence heaped onto offence, with very little real in it, and rarely seems either genuine or deeply felt. There is something profoundly contemptuous about the terminology and posture about so many of these non-pologies, partly because IMO those concerned cannot imagine themselves in the positions of those they've abused, by their bystanding or outright cheerleading. Drives me mad.

Regret is not redress. Shout it out!

IMO JMO MOO, etc.

I think she just didn't want to get pulled into the scandal. Has she said anything it would have been a huge story and IMO women usually lose when holding men accountable.

I don't know if she did anything, perhaps anonymously or not.

While this is my opinion, I will say I'm influenced by my own personal experiences. Men with power are rarely held accountable.

TBH I never gave much thought to Bill Gates being involved. But Melinda's words rang true. And I truly believe that had she spoken up she would have either been dismissed or slandered. The end result would have been unproductive.

I do hope things are changing and that is why I share.
