I tried watching the hearings a few times today but couldn't do it. It was awful. She is awful.

I had low expectations, and she went beneath them.

@MacFarlaneNews

NOW: Howard Lutnick was asked by Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) if the nanny who joined Lutnick family on a 2012 trip to Epstein island is the same nanny Epstein expressed an interest in meetingLutnick: "I have no idea about that whole thing"

House Dems. Vice Chair @RepTedLieu
"Howard Lutnick must resign…The Epstein files' new release shows that not only did Howard Lutnick lie to the American people, he went into business with Jeffrey Epstein. He visited Epstein's island."

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick says he had lunch with Jeffrey Epstein on his island while on a family vacation in 2012. This contradicts his previous statements saying he did not have contact with Epstein following a 2005 interaction.“I did have lunch with him as I was on a boat going across on a family vacation. My wife was with me, as were my four children and nannies. I had another couple with... they were there as well with their children. And we had lunch on the island. That is true. For an hour. And we left with all of my children, with my nannies and my wife all together. We were on family vacation. We were not apart... To suggest there was anything untoward about that in 2012, I don't recall why we did it, but we did," Lutnick said

Food for thought: The island (not unlike plantations) did need nannies IMO

Questioning of Bondi at Congress finishes - here's a recap

Pam Bondi has finished speaking to the committee.

The session was punctuated by repeated clashes between the attorney general and Democrats (and some Republicans).

Bondi repeatedly changed the subject when asked about topics like the Epstein files and spoke about crime statistics within the states of those asking her questions. Here's a summary of some of what was said:

  • Bondi was questioned over the administration's handling of the Epstein files and accused of not doing enough to prosecute individuals following their latest release;
  • The attorney general said investigations are under way, but offered no further details;
  • She was repeatedly criticised for the release of victims' identities in the file and claimed they had done their best under the time constraints;
  • At one point, Bondi was asked about underage girls in a heated clash with a Democrat over unproven claims about Donald Trump from a limo driver;
  • But she and another Democrat agreed Ghislaine Maxwell didn't deserve special treatment in jail, and the attorney general said she should "die in prison";
  • Epstein files latest: Trump's attorney general told 'shame on you' over Andrew - as police hold talks in UK about claims

US Attorney-General Pam Bondi has refused to apologise to victims of Jeffrey Epstein, whose names and naked photographs were included in the release of files by the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Dozens of nude photos were among the published files, according to The New York Times, which reported the pictures were removed after the newspaper found them and notified the DOJ.

Right out of the Trump playbook. Never admit responsibility or wrongdoing no matter how obvious the culpability is.

The leaders of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics determined on Wednesday that the chair of its organizing committee, Casey Wasserman, will remain in his role amid uproar over his past exchanges with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and associate Ghislaine Maxwell.

“The [LA28] Executive Committee of the Board has determined that based on these facts, as well as the strong leadership he has exhibited over the past ten years, Mr. Wasserman should continue to lead LA28 and deliver a safe and successful Games,” the board said in a statement obtained by The Hill

That was easily the most embarrassing display of political theater that I've ever seen! What an absolute stain for the United States to have someone behave like a petulant, snotty brat on a worldwide forum like that. Bondi acted like a 2yr old child not an adult. Behavior like that makes me feel ashamed to be an American!! THAT is the best we have to offer???? THAT is how low American discourse has fallen!! How can anyone condone behavior like that?

I'm disgusted. I'm embarrassed. I'm ashamed. I'm saddened. And I'm so very sorry to the victims of these crimes. This whole fiasco has annihilated my faith in justice and the order of life. There is no order. There is no law. Right and Wrong are gone. Everything I've ever believed in destroyed. As long as you're rich and powerful, you can do whatever you want. I hate everything.

He asks Epstein survivors at the hearing to stand up.

Goldman asks how many have been asked to give testimony from the DOJ. No one raises their hands.

He asks how many have offered to provide testimony and evidence, to which they all raise their hands.

"Well, Ms Bondi, it looks like you have some more witnesses to talk to you," he says.

CNN: "Another photograph -- these are notes AG Bondi brought to the hearing today. This shows a list of Rep. Jayapal's search history. Lawmakers are allowed to go to a DOJ facility to search unredacted files. We have learned from this photo that the searches are apparently being tracked and then read by the DOJ."

“It's totally inappropriate,” Jayapal told me. “Is this is whole reason they opened [the files] up to us two days early? So they could essentially surveil members to see what we were gonna ask her about?”

Newly released documents show the FBI’s scramble to explain last year why it released a screen recording with a missing minute from the night Jeffrey Epstein died, instead of the original footage.

The discrepancy fueled conspiracy theories about a cover-up after then-Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino promised the agency would release the original surveillance footage from Epstein’s Manhattan jail “so you don’t think there are any shenanigans.” The FBI has never offered a public explanation of how it ended up releasing a video with a gap in footage.

Last May, as a groundswell built demanding public scrutiny of the Justice Department’s records on Epstein, the agency ran into a problem: it had already destroyed its master copy of surveillance video from Epstein’s final hours in the Metropolitan Correctional Center.

An FBI agent sought and was granted in June 2024 authorization to destroy an evidence item labeled 1B60, describing it as an exhibit “no longer pertinent” to the case.

That item, according to a document among the Epstein files, was the master recording of “tapes containing the archive of [Manhattan Correctional Center] video images.” It had been stored in a Bronx warehouse.

In February 2025, an agent explained in a different document the justification for destroying the video.

“As this case was already closed and [redacted prosecutor’s name] concurred on 08/26/2024 with agency evidence handling procedures, authorization was granted to destroy Item 1B60,” the agent wrote. “Per FBI policy, if an evidence item remains undisposed, the investigative case file must remain open.”

I wonder why the names (except Epstein's) are redacted in the FBI document filing about this evidence destruction?

A company known for taking millions of school student portraits each year is the latest to feel the heat from the Epstein files backlash.

Parents in several New Jersey towns are demanding school districts sever ties with Lifetouch — one of the nation’s largest school photo companies — after a former executive linked to its parent company was mentioned in the files.

Heartbreaking that my kids and the kids of everybody I know have been photographed by Lifetouch.

Bondi refused to interact with a group of Epstein survivors sitting just a few rows behind her while she was grilled over her handling of the investigation. ...

Bondi declined to apologize to the women for the Department of Justice's initial failure to redact all victims name's from the documents that were released.

Meanwhile, Bondi came to the hearing with a book of research on the committee members who were questioning her, and she used it frequently to lob insults at members while refusing to directly answer questions.
