NY - Billionaire Jeffrey Epstein arrested, sex trafficking, 6 July 2019 *FOUND DECEASED IN JAIL* #4

In a further twist to this saga, it has emerged that the UK's current ambassador to the US, Peter "Mandy" Mandelson, was a visitor to Epstein's island and described him in writing as his "best pal".

For non-Brits, Mandelson emerged into the political limelight after being parachuted into the very safe Labour seat of Hartlepool for the 1992 election. Following the election of a Labour government in 1997 he held a number of high profile roles, including in connection with the EU, but was widely mistrusted and regarded as sleazy. He disappeared into the background for a decade or so following Labour's defeat in 2010 before being appointed UK ambassador to the US by Keir Starmer last year.

It remains to be seen what Starmer does about his current appointment.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has fired Peter Mandelson as ambassador to the United States over his links to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Foreign Office minister Stephen Doughty told MPs on Thursday.

Mandelson had been under mounting pressure over his relationship with Epstein after a “birthday book” was released by US lawmakers that included a letter from the veteran politician expressing his backing for Epstein, describing him as “my best pal.”

The scandal snowballed after Bloomberg obtained a trove of emails Mandelson sent to Epstein, in which he expressed support for his friend and offered to discuss his 2008 case with his political contacts.

Not before time, and he should never have been appointed to the post in the first place. This is the THIRD time Mandelson has been sacked or forced to resign from government appointments because of a scandal.

Peter Mandelson was fired as Britain’s ambassador to the United States on Thursday after his ties to the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein became another unwelcome problem for the embattled Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

Bloomberg News obtained over 18,000 messages to and from the disgraced financier, revealing the deep ties to the people around him.

Don't have time to read our 5K word investigative piece on Jeffrey Epstein's emails? Here are key takeaways

Epstein’s callousness

Epstein’s abuse has been well documented, but the emails detail a methodical and callous approach he took to recruiting young women into his orbit. His female contacts and assistants sent him steady streams of photographs and descriptions of women like this one: nice personality, student, a little curvy, Russian, 19. Epstein often replied with a brief yes or no. Sometimes he was more expansive: “fat and Asian sorry,” he wrote in one email...

Interestingly, he was appointed as ambassador to the US on Feb 10 2025 - just after Trump took office.

Correct, and I suspect the two are connected. It is extremely unusual for a non-career diplomat to be appointed to a high profile ambassadorship in the way Mandelson was. Another was the late Peter Jay who was ambassador to Washington from 1977 to 1979. Co-incidentally, his father in law was the then prime minister, James Callaghan.

The Justice Department on Friday asked a federal judge overseeing the case of deceased sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein to deny a request from NBC News to unseal the names of two associates who received large payments from him in 2018, court documents show. The Justice Department cited privacy concerns expressed by the two individuals as the reason for not making their names public.

The first associate received a payment of $100,000 from Epstein and the second associate received a payment of $250,000, both in 2018, days after the Miami Herald began publishing a series of investigative stories where victims criticized a plea deal he received in Florida in 2008.
....
The prosecutors continued: “This individual is also one of the employees identified in the Indictment, which alleges that she and two other identified employees facilitated the defendant’s trafficking of minors by, among other things, contacting victims and scheduling their sexual encounters with the defendant at his residences in Manhattan and Palm Beach, Florida.”

Yes, 2018. That's when Julie Brown wrote a big piece about Epstein's case in the Miami Herald. I remember reading it at the time. And it's around the time Acosta's entanglements came to light, irrc?

An additional consideration is that Mandelson was given a life peerage in 2008 by the Brown government. I wonder if there will be pressure now to strip him of that peerage.

Perhaps Trump requested him. Seems very possible.
