"‘Credible’ bomb threat diverts Lufthansa flight headed to Germany at John F. Kennedy Airport"

"A Lufthansa flight to Germany has been diverted to JFK airport after authorities received a “credible threat” of a bomb on board, law enforcement sources said.

Officials began evacuating passengers from Lufthansa Flight 441, which departed from Houston at about 8:30 p.m., after the plane made an emergency landing at JFK Monday night, sources said."

Passengers have disembarked.

Edited to add: (Lufthansa tweeted in response to a reporter's question....links to Twitter not allowed on WS?).

That's a good question. I have no idea but I would bet they do get them. A friend of mine works at a courthouse and they get them all the time. In those cases, it's usually someone who wants their case to be postponed.

The link provided above gives some info - they are not that common.

(I was wondering because the story isn't getting that much attention...which is GOOD because no one was hurt. Yay for that!)

I'm glad the airlines take these things seriously. I agree! Thankfully everyone is unhurt.

To close it out:

"Just before 1 a.m. Tuesday, the Port Authority tweeted that authorities cleared the plane and that a search of the aircraft was “negative.” Coleman said nothing suspicious was found."

I'm curious where the false bomb threat originated from, but perhaps we won't hear more about the case.

Very thankful that no one was hurt. I wish the passengers an uneventful flight to Germany.

I applaud the pilot for taking no chances!

This really creeps me out. Sounds like someone was just testing to see what the reaction would be to a called-in bomb threat... hope the appropriate authorities are still digging into this, even if we won't hear.
