The arrest appears related to a child she left home unattended.

Police Searching For 4-Year-Old Reported Missing In Manhattan, Mother Taken Into Custody

According to police, the child’s mother said she was getting off at the station and when she turned around, the child was missing. It’s unclear if the child was still on the train or went missing on the platform.

Officers went to the woman’s apartment and found a 12-year-old child home alone.

The mother was arrested for endangering the welfare of a child.

Wow, first of all how does someone abduct a child at a subway station in the middle of midtown Manhattan. I can see her being left on the subway because the doors close quickly but mother would know that? There has to be witnesses and cameras.

And since when is a child of 12 left home alone endangering?

Wonder why the 12 yo is not in school today?

Could the 12 yo have special needs?

Anybody know the age a child can legally stay home alone?

Side note... Had a client, Judge order not to leave at 15y home alone after school. When the she ask the Judge about baby sitting jobs she had on the weekends/evenings, the judge said that was fine. The reason, it was OK if she was being paid, but if unpaid she needed a babysitter.

In Illinois a child cannot be left alone unsupervised 13 years of age or under, but maybe this 12 year old was left with insufficient food/clothing?

Crazy, what is going on?!?!

4-Year-Old Who Vanished in Subway Found Safe; Mom Cuffed

Police were seen leading her mother out of the subway station in handcuffs. Cops didn't immediately have information on any specific charges against her, but authorities said she was taken into custody at Bloomingdale's. They brought her to her home, where she allegedly tried to run off -- and cops grabbed her.

Re the 12 yo left at home alone:

NYC Public Schools are closed today for Yom Kippur.

New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS)

OCFS is often asked questions regarding the appropriate age to leave a child alone, or what age is appropriate to allow a child to begin babysitting. There are no straightforward answers to these questions. All children develop at their own rate, and with their own special needs and abilities. Some children are responsible, intelligent, and independent enough to be left alone at 12 or 13 years of age. Likewise, there are some teenagers who are too irresponsible or who have special needs that limit their ability to be safe if they are left alone.
Parents and guardians need to make intelligent, reasoned decisions regarding these matters.

The plot thickens....

They brought her to her home, where she allegedly tried to run off -- and cops grabbed her.

It was at her home where authorities found a 12-year-old boy by himself, which may have been connected to any charges filed against her. Authorities then someone located the missing 4-year-old in someone else's care.
