NY NY - Canton, WhtFem, 30-40, found beaten and mutilated in ditch, Apr'50

Bumping. This case should not be forgotten! Based on more sources stating it, I believe she was actually found on April 5, 1950 instead of the date I provided upthread.

I wonder if the county and state police are unaware of the case because of just how small Canton is as a town. It does appear to be on the smaller side for one. It still feels really bizarre as an explanation, but the case just being forgotten is just as bizarre.

I found an email for a police department in Canton, so I emailed them just to be sure. Worse that can happen is they say they don't know, but my fingers are crossed.

Alright, the Canton police did respond, and it's not in their jurisdiction. That's completely fair, and they did tell me who the case owners should be. Unfortunately, it's the New York State Police, who never responded when asked, according to post #17.

I think the right person to ask would be the trooper in charge of St. Lawrence County, who I believe is Brent Davison, but there's only a phone number and I'm not from the U.S., so I can't call.

I did find an email though. I'm not sure if its the right one, but I may as well send one over.

This is absolutely horrible.

We should all make a pact to keep bumping this poor woman, and work on it as we're able. Anything to generate interest and make it so she's not forgotten. I've never heard of this either.

I dont wanna come off as impatient, but it's been over two weeks and, as I somewhat expected, I've received no response from the NY State Police. If they refuse to give any info on the case or add her to NamUs (if she's still unidentified), I'm really worried it might stay obscure.

I wonder if the point was to steal her organs to sell them on the Black market ? But then, why beat her so hard ?
That’s weird that it’s not a more famous case given how horrible it is

According to Google the first successful organ transplant was performed in 1954, so I don’t think stealing organs was a thing back then. Unless there’s other reasons for organs theft..

The targeted beating of the face and jaw suggests a highly emotional or personal motive. The brutality may indicate the killer knew the victim or projected anger onto her. This is often seen in offenders with deeply rooted resentment or psychological instability.

The focus on the thighs and abdomen, combined with the organ removal, suggests possible hatred or contempt toward women. This could stem from unresolved trauma — possibly childhood abuse, sexual dysfunction, or abusive maternal relationships.

The removal of organs wasn’t done with surgical precision but shows some familiarity with human anatomy. The killer may have worked in a slaughterhouse, butchery, or be involved in hunting. The anatomical focus on female-specific organs could be symbolic.

If the victim was homeless she may have been seen by the killer as a “safe” victim — someone less likely to be missed immediately or quickly identified.

This case doesn’t read like a “one-off.” The level of escalation, symbolism, and depersonalization of the victim suggests this individual has either:

Killed before and refined his ritual, Has more than likely killed again, Establishing a pattern.

I believe it's worth comparing this case to others involving:

Female victims with facial trauma and lower body mutilation

Organ removal with perceived surgical skill

Homeless women

Dumped in public or urban-adjacent areas

Possibly within a wide radius of area specified.

I extremely doubt organ harvesting was the motive for this. According to the available articles, even though organs were removed, none of them were stolen. All of her organs were found at the scene, even if they weren't where they should be.

Oh okay my bad, I misunderstood !
But then why remove her organs ?? What could be the motive behind that ?

My guess is that whoever did this must have HATED women, or at least her in particular. This seems like a very personal attack on her; she was brutally beaten beyond recognition, had her abdomen and thighs mutilated, and eviscerated. A typical murderer wouldn't go through all of this. This was motivated by emotion and a warped mindset.

Or they hated someone who loved her and wanted to send them a very specific message?

I wonder if her identity was known, but they were afraid to claim her?

This case is so sad and disturbing, for the brutality and for how long she has gone unidentified.

I agree with you. Whoever did this did it with rage toward her given how brutal her death was.
