Circumstances of Disappearance:
Chiang went missing from Bronx, New York on June 6, 1997. She was last seen near her apartment in the 2800 block of Dudley Avenue in the Middletown borough. She has never been heard from again. Authorities searched her residence and discovered all of her personal belongings were still inside, including her purse and credit cards.

Chiang is a native of Taiwan and had lived in the United States for 25 years at the time of her disappearance. She was employed as a registered nurse at St. Barnabas Hospital. Foul play is suspected in her case and her whereabouts remain unknown.

I have the impression that she fell into foul play maybe because she owed money or some admirer or harassing co-worker and was probably murdered but I don't think she returned to Taiwan after 25 years without anyone knowing friends, family or co-workers..

Catherine Chiang used to live in the same neighborhood I used to live in (Pelham Bay) during childhood. That certain strip of the neighborhood is known for robberies and mugging, at least now, and it caused the local Walgreens to close down because of it. And also, since it was in the 1990s, Pelham Bay was not very pretty back then. There's a slim chance that she's even alive because of how much time has passed.
