Found Safe NY - Chelsea O'Donnell, 17, Nyack, 11 August 2015

I'm not so sure broadcasting to the world that she is mentally ill is going to be all that helpful in finding this teen or in getting her to return voluntarily.

JMO

First- there shouldn't be a stigma attached, so I don't like the assumption that this is something shameful or humiliating for her, and
Second- how is this different than every other missing person's case I've seen on here? Many of the bulletins and fliers list known medical conditions including mental illness.

This is the first case I've seen here where releasing that info is met with criticism, usually posters are complaining the family holds out on releasing those sorts of details.

I hope she is found soon.

You're right, there shouldn't be a stigma attached yet people do it anyway. It's up to Chelsea to decide what she finds humiliating and her medical history is a matter of her privacy.

Shades of our thread that went downstairs that was for a missing teen niece of a WS member.

She was also adopted, also had some mental illness issues, also had been recently back in touch with a bio-mom, and also without her medication.

It was several months before Savannah was actually 'recovered' though they basically knew where she was all along.

If it didn't have Rosie involved I suspect this one would play out similarly, but I think the publicity may influence the way this one ends up being handled.

After reading this thread on WS http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...ldest-daughter-claims-Rosie-STOLE-her-baby-be ,I would bet that the bio mom knows where she's at and if she does then she should be charged with interfering with child custody. Apparently she has poisoned that child with her public accusations and the text messages. If Chelsea does have some mental illness and stopped taking her medicine she could be in danger just the fact that she is 17 and out there with out her custodial parents could put her in danger out there.

I hear you, but I also think it's important because if someone sees her and talks to her, it might help to know it's possible she's not thinking straight. The information also might encourage someone to make a call to authorities if they know were C is because C could be more vulnerable than just a teen who wants to be on her own, ykwim?

I hope the situation is resolved soon and the family can pull together out of the limelight.

17 is such a vulnerable age. They're almost adults but they're not and they think they know it all and want to make decisions not listen to their parents. I think this is just some sort of rebellion on C's part. If she has gone to be with bio mom I think she's going to get tired of living in some apartment, not having the funds to live like she's accustomed to and listening to bio moms rants about Rosie IMO. It's a far cry from what she has now and if you read those texts it seems like she was already tiring of listening to bio mom's accusations but she's vulnerable like I said and I'm sure confused. I worry about bio moms real motive though.

JMHO, it appears that Rosie was open and honest with her Daughter from reading. And at 17, an age that is in itself confusing... She had the bio Mom name and info... and with simple internet search... found her. Praying for this child and that she is found soon, and all gets sorted out. Main thing is locating here right now. Especially if she has a medical condition of some sort. JMHO

I'm unclear whether LE is actually involved or not, but one of things they could do is get a subpoena for the wireless carrier to produce Chelsea's cell phone records for the last 30 days. This could narrow down who might be helping her, as well as triangulate the last-pinged location of her phone.

IMO bio-mom doesn't get to have a dog in this hunt. She presumably gave up her parental rights legally, and that adoption was presumably signed off on by a judge somewhere who was aware of biomom's situation. If she was truly concerned about her bio-daughter's welfare she would have called Child Protective Services instead of the National Enquirer.

Respectfully BBM... As do I. Went to the National Enquire??? IIRC isn't Radar Online a part of NE? JMHO, she got pd $$ for that.

OMG!!!! Chelsea and the Bio Mom spoke on Aug 8th!! And had secret plans to meet!

According to the girl’s biological mother, Deanna Micoley, they had discussed potentially meeting up just days before she went missing Chelsea’s biological mother Micoley told Radar that she spoke to the girl on August 8 — three days before she was last seen. “She asked me where I was living, because she was going to come see me,” Micoley, who lives in Wisconsin, told Radar.

“Rosie has said she wouldn’t be surprised if she came looking for me,” she continued. “She said that when I first talked to Rosie when Chelsea found me in November.” http://radaronline.com/celebrity-ne...logical-mom-deanna-micoley-reveals-plan-meet/

So either bio mom is lying and knows where Chelsea is, or they think she is heading in the direction of bio-mom.

<snip>

The family told police they had not seen her since August 11, but they had been in contact with her, Wilson [LE] said. Berger [family spokeswoman], however, denied that the family had been in contact with Chelsea since they'd seen her.

Wilson said Chelsea used an unknown cell phone to contact her family between August 11 and Sunday. The teenager does not have her own phone or computer with her, he said.

<snip>

A source tells PEOPLE that O'Donnell did not report the teen missing until Sunday because she thought Chelsea was with friends. The source added that Chelsea had no money and no phone.

<snip>

The family told police that while they had not seen the teen since last week, they had been in contact with her, he
[Sgt. Daniel Wilson] said.

I'm not sure how much information she was given but apparently it was enough for her to track down her grandfather.

Teens who run away have a knack for not being found. I do find it odd that C's birthday was changed from that which was on her original birth certificate.

This is all very convoluted. Is this yet another case of bad reporting? Or are there lies being told? And to what end?

It is really hard for Rosie and her daughter , imo, because it is somewhat 'normal' for a 17 yr old girl to 'have problems' with their mother. It is all part of growing up and even close mothers/daughters go through similar rough patches. But it is magnified when you have an adoptive mom and a newly discovered bio-Mom. it makes it too easy for the teen to think that all problems will be resolved by establishing a 'new' mother in one's life. But it is does not usually work out that smoothly in the end. JMO

The bio mom may know where she is but I'm not sure what crime that is if LE aren't treating C's disappearance as a crime. I believe in the text exchanges that have been linked, C tells her that her birthday is in September. So it sounds to be that C is going to be a legal adult in a matter of a few weeks.

I was raised by my grandparents- I had everything I wanted, nice house, new cloths-every opportunity I could imagine but all I wanted was my mother (careful what you wish for) so I gave everything up and went to live in a two room trailer in the woods.

When kids feel abandoned, as many of us do no matter how loved we are material things don't really matter.

Being off her meds is such a concern- and if being Rosie's daughter helps this girl by finding her and making sure she is safe than I say Thank God she got the attention.

Possible to adoption date? I read an article that said in NJ where the adoption took place, that once ink dry, it done deal, Bio parents cant come back. That was then .. unsure of new laws. But Rosie had all the legal paperwork and since she was big on telling the truth to her about being adopted, even on her post on her old blog, said she still had the outfit Clelsea was wearing and she could have someday. I have a couple friends who are adopted private adoptions... a few that I know that gave infant up for adoption... and nieces/nephew who were adopted by their stepdad. .. Lots of different emotions and opinions there for sure.
