Where is Colin?

Dear Colin,

9 years ago, I didn't know your name.

As I sit here thinking about you 9 years later, I can see your smile (which is strange since I did not know you). How does that happen? Maybe it was the sheer love I saw for you 9 years ago and still today. The way you brought people together in a way that is extremely rare, even if it was due to terrible duress.

Today, Colin, when i put just 'Co' in my google search bar your name pops up first, it knows.
I am always thinking of you and wishing for solace for you and your loved ones.

always,
andalso

I can hardly believe it has been NINE YEARS since Colin went missing! Even harder to believe is that he still hasn't been found. How utterly sad for his loved ones. I am still of the belief that Colin didn't just wander off from the effects of hypothermia, LE searched that area very well, and I think if he wandered off somewhere in the vicinity he went missing he would have been found by now. The fact that his drivers license had been found in that vicinity leads me to still believe that he had a scuffle with someone(s), and forced into their vehicle. I have been through the area where he was last seen and thought how much wilderness there was. I keep Colin and his family in my thoughts and prayers and hope that this case gets some resolution soon.

If I correctly recall, someone here mentioned that this case could be resolved if someone would speak up, and I totally agree. I can't imagine why anyone would not come forward to bring Colin home to his family. I can't imagine how they are able to look themselves in the mirror each day and not feel sickened. As for the monster(s) who might have done this.. don't count on them to 'grow a spine' and come forward.. for they not only don't have a spine, they don't have a conscience. I doubt they ever did. Perhaps not on this earth.. but I truly believe we are held accountable for the harm that we cause others. My ruminations and my opinions.

I hope that it is okay to share that I just responded to a post on FB by Dateline NBC, they asked about any cold cases and I shared about the Colin Gillis case. I gave them a brief synopsis about the case and suggested that they should help get his case out there again. Fingers crossed and prayers for the Gillis family. Please delete this post if it is not allowed, and my sincere apology.

Welcome to WS! It's good to get a local perspective on things, and also to know that it's in line with what many of us have thought. Just a word of caution, WS has some pretty strict rules when it comes to rumor, so don't take it personally if your posts are removed. You may wish to consider being verified as an insider so that you can share things without having to back them up with a source.

Mt muatumbla is a snowmobile trail and if taken i believe would put you back in tupper lake along the back side of the lumber yard then a good walk up pitchfork road would put you outside of tupper lake near the cemetery it wouldn’t make much sense for him to walk that way and setting pole damn is a few upscale houses/camps people smoke weed out by the dam but would be doubtful one would walk 45 minutes from the main road to the water just to smoke a bowl and there’s nothing going towards the way of Piercefield except Piercefield after that there’s a snowmobile bar

I don’t know how to do that but really wanted to say again what i was told by the sons father idk if they even took me seriously when i reported it he was pretty adamant that that’s what happened I don’t really want to make anyone mad and its very understandable I’m not sure how i would verify that but i think they got the right characters

How would one go about reporting anonymously? I see there is a website called WeTip. Is this a reliable way? I think it would be good to clarify how to do that since it's the anniversary month and maybe more people are reading here right now. Anyone have a link? Or phone number they can post here?

I would love to see @GWOBrother weigh in on where best to send tips, but there are a few options I think.

Colin W. Gillis – The Charley Project
  • Investigating agency : I am not sure how anonymity works there but New York State Police 518-897-2000

Have you seen this child? Colin Gillis

Maybe if one wanted to do it anonymously perhaps The Center for Missing and Exploited Children would be the route, but not sure on that. The # on that link is 1-800-THE-LOST

Hello all,
As per Andalso's request here is a hotline for anonymous tips. It is not specific to Colin but it is the appropriate one to use and any and all information is passed to the powers in charge of the case. That number is: 1-800-448-3847

If there is anything else I can help with please feel free to reach out!
Ian
