I'd love to see the video I made get more publicity because I think it speaks in volumes to my families struggles and how we remember him, more so than an article could provide.

RSBM...

Thank you, Ian, it's extremely generous of you to give us your time and information. If possible, would you please share the link to your video again? I would like to share it on my FB page, I have friends who are avid hikers or work in the area and good old six-degrees-of-separation can make things reach places we wouldn't normally guess. Maybe a renewed interest in that arena will put more pressure on those who know something and one of them will finally speak out.

Hello all,

<modsnip>

I wanted to share a little personal story about Colin, one of my favorite jokes he ever made to keep the mood lighthearted in the thread:
My parents were having a little get together around a fire at their house, (Colin must have been 15-16 at the time), the company was admiring how my father had tied Birch Trees over to create a "natural" archway through a gate in our fence line. Colin, without missing a beat, said:

"My father doesn't just hug trees, he bends them over"

Laughter rang through the air for what seemed like hours, and Colin didn't lose his signature smile for the rest of the night.

<modsnip>

Have a great night,
Ian

On Wednesday, WWNY-TV, also known as 7 News, reported troopers were in Edwards following up on a lead related to Colin W. Gillis, the college student from Tupper Lake who went missing in 2012.

Mr. Gillis, then 18 years old, was last seen in the early morning hours of March 11, 2012, walking on Route 3 toward Piercefield after leaving a party on Paskungameh Road in Tupper Lake. A motorist saw a pedestrian on the side of the road near the St. Lawrence-Franklin County line at that time and reported the sighting to state police out of concern. According to the Times’ archives, no one was found when a patrol responded to the area, not yet knowing Mr. Gillis may have been missing at the time.

Hundreds of volunteers searched for the Tupper Lake High School graduate in the days following his disappearance. A first-year SUNY Brockport student, Mr. Gillis was home on spring break.

Searches of nearby woods and waters were conducted, and state police previously reported they found items that may have belonged to Mr. Gillis on Setting Pole Dam Road in Tupper Lake.
State police investigate Edwards property Tuesday; unconfirmed reports indicate cold case connection

Approx. 50 miles W or 1 hour drive from Setting Pole Dam Road in Tupper Lake to Edwards...FWIW.

ETA: Interesting since Colin was said to have been last seen walking west on the #3, rather than having turned right (east) off the SPD Rd. towards Tupper Lake.‬‏‏

There was talk of this farm on another forum about a year ago, that a building recently burned on it and that police were trying to get a warrant to search the property. From what I have read there is a connection between the farm and a certain someone who was at the party that night. We can only wait and hope there are questions answered.

Hello all,
I'm Colin Gillis' brother(the one who made the video). Someone contacted me after reading this forum, and I had no idea that this was even talked about, not to mention so widely by so many people. Thank you all for your constant diligence and your support for my family and friends. I'll be checking in from time to time, and if any of you have any questions feel free to ask, I'll answer everything I can to the best of my ability.
Thank you all again,
Peace and Love,
Ian Gillis

Hi Ian,

WOW, it's been awhile since I've checked this post! I am so thankful for andalso for sending me the article about the recent search! Anyway, just wanted to thank you for being here, thank you for answering all of the questions, and I just want you to know that I think of your brother very often, even though I'm just a stranger on the internet who never know him. He seems like he was such a special person who didn't deserve whatever happened to him. I really hope this one is solved soon.

My thoughts, exactly.

Interesting!

Police dig in Edwards on Colin Gillis lead | News, Sports, Jobs - Adirondack Daily Enterprise

Snipped...
...Edwards town Supervisor Jan Lennox said State Police used the town backhoe for digging on Tuesday. He also said State Police had been present two weeks before when machinery on the property was used to dig a 20-to-30-foot circle in the same location.

...St. Lawrence County District Attorney Gary Pasqua declined to say if an arrest has been made but said if one is, law enforcement will notify the media.
