Police searching for missing Long Island toddler

NEW YORK - Police on Long Island are seeking help to locate a child who was reported missing after his mother apparently failed to surrender custody of him to Child Protective Services.

Suffolk County police say Selina Elswick was scheduled to return her 3-year-old son, Damian Sollas, to Suffolk County Family Court in Central Islip on January 22 but failed to appear.

When Child Protective Services attempted to take custody of the child at Commack home on Monday they discovered that the two had moved out on January 16.

CPS reported the child missing at that point.

Selina Elswick, 32, is white, 5'6" tall, approximately 150 pounds with red hair and brown eyes.

Damian Sollas is white, approximately 40 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

The two may be in the company of the child’s father, Thomas Sollas, 43, and could be traveling in a box truck with Lite House Electric written on the side of it.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call 631-854-8452 or 911.

Not really clear whether he was reported missing on 1/16 or on 1/22... either way, its close to a WEEK later, and they can be long gone across the country. I'm wondering why there was no amber alert or release to the public sooner?

An officer saw a woman walking on New York Avenue who fit Elswick's description, police said. The officer walked up to her and identified her as Elswick, police said. Officers say an investigation led them to a nearby home where the boy was found unharmed. Elswick is in custody for the warrant, police said.
