Police Searching for Suspect in Binghamton Double Homicide
“Detectives say that 50-year-old Scott Mitchell of Binghamton has been developed as a suspect in the murders of Daniel McCloe, 58, and Marshall VanOven, 55. Mitchell is wanted for questioning.

McCloe and VanOven were reported missing . . . February 3. On February 5, . . . the two men were found dead at a private residence on the west side of Binghamton. . . . A forensic pathologist determined the cause of death was murder. McCloe and VanOven were said to be friends.

Mitchell has allegedly fled to South Carolina. . . . [O]n February 8, . . . deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle in the 1000 block of Short Cut Road in Dorchester. It was confirmed that the vehicle belonged to Mitchell. Mitchell is considered armed and dangerous.“

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Sister of victim Marshall VanOven, Lisa Callahan, thanked an anonymous tipster who gave Volusia County deputies information that led to the arrest of 50-year-old Scott Mitchell.

“I just want to say thank you to that person. Words can not express enough being however many miles away in New York that somebody else cared enough,” said Callahan.
