New York police share new details in death of Dawn Marino, as 1981 cold case continues

Investigators believe one or more people are keeping a guilty secret in the death of 20-year-old Dawn Marino. She was killed in 1981.

''On Friday, for the first time, state police brought reporters to the spot where Marino's body was found as they hope to advance the case.
Her remains were found in a concrete well near a home that had burned down years before.
Investigators also found old material printed with images in a Pennsylvania Dutch motif. They believe it is distinctive enough to jog some memories, and are urging those with information to come forward.''

New York State Police are keeping quiet about a multi-agency investigation that's been blocking a road in Orange County for two days.

Police have had the same 1-mile stretch of Little York Road in Warwick’s Pine Island section blocked to foot and vehicle traffic since early Thursday morning.

News 12 confirmed late Friday through a local source familiar with the investigation that state police have been executing a search warrant at a large property on Little York Road.

Heavy-duty digging equipment and all-terrain vehicles have been in and out of the scene the last two days.According to Orange County property records, the property in question is owned by Michael Moraczewski.

Moraczewski owns at least 150 acres on the east and west sides of Little York Road.

According to numerous past news reports, Moraczewski found the body of Dawn Marino in 1987 in a cement water tank in the woods close to his property.

Hopefully there will at least be an arrest for Dawn’s murder soon. Her family, friends, and the community deserve it.
Being familiar with the area I can at least offer a little insight into the community. Pine island is a farming community. Many of the families there have been there for generations. It’s the small town where everyone knows/ knows of everyone. IF a local is arrested it will be both traumatic, and a relief. Everyone wants answers!
