GUILTY NY - Edward Boucher, 65, Brighton, car found, 14 May 2021 *ARREST*

He doesn't look to me like he has a house to live in. Looks like he's been sleeping rough.

Maybe he was being evicted from the house or was having the house repossessed.

The suspect from 2018 on his Facebook page to now must have hit a downhill spiral. His mugshot he looks very unhinge. As others mentioned. Plus the the fact he killed him in the house and dumped him outside the house, not to even care he would get caught. They knew each other for years? I would love to know the relationship.

That and the fact he was walking along Denise Rd., clear across town west of the river.

My guess is hard drug use and mental illness are at play, here. I wonder how long he'd been dealing, could be many years.

Monroe County Clerk records indicate Wernle bought the house in 2018.

That's interesting so Wernle did own the house. It crossed my mind maybe Edward Bouche owned the house and he was a tenant for many years. S0 that shoots down that theory. I agree drug use, i.e heroin.

According to court records Wernle has had some civil court issues, however nothing criminal that I can find. At least not in Monroe County. He lived with his ex-wife in the same town as where Helendale is located, in fact I know the street well.

Man charged in death of Brighton man pleads not guilty to murder, other charges

Christopher Wernle plead not guilty at his arraignment on Thursday. The charges are second-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence. His bail was set to $250k cash. While the prosecution says that discovery on the case is substantial, Wernle's attorney believes evidence against his client is insufficient. He also claims that the suspect and the victim didn't have a relationship. The lawyer confirmed that Wernle had a history of drug use (was charged with a drug offense last year in Virginia) with periods of sobriety.

New info from two weeks ago: Police records in death of Ted Boucher made public. What they show

Excerpts (more at the link, but the motive is still unclear):

"As patrol got closer to the residence of 403 Helendale Road, a white male, who was later identified as Christopher Wernle, became visibly nervous," one report states. "Christopher walked out of his residence and advised units that we can search wherever we would like on his property and he called an Uber because he had to leave."

Upon the discovery of the hearing aid, DeSain asked Wernle if he could search the garbage cans, in hopes of finding the cellphone. With no success there, "I then asked (Wernle) if I can check behind the garbage cans under the porch," DeSain wrote. Wernle tried to direct him to the basement instead, saying, "Oh, you want to get in the basement, I will show you."

At the same time another officer yelled "Body," having found Boucher's corpse under the porch.

First time we hear that Ted Boucher was despondent. I wondered why his family didn't know where he'd gone when he left home. That's my assumption anyways.

More from the article linked above and here….
Police records in death of Ted Boucher made public. What they show

Wernle was taken into custody by police after Boucher's body was found, then released. Within a week, he was arrested and accused of second-degree murder. Police said they'd been awaiting the results of an autopsy at the Medical Examiner's Office. He also is now charged with tampering with evidence.

That must have been difficult for the victim’s family to see this suspect released after Mr. Boucher’s body had been found at the suspect’s house. I am guessing there must have been some surveillance to keep an eye on where CW was while they waited for autopsy results to come back. Apparently Boucher’s son is a local prosecutor so there is probably some personal motivation to bring justice to Mr. Boucher and his family.

Former Victor Town Justice Thomas Reh is serving as special prosecutor in the case. Boucher's son is a prosecutor in the Monroe County District Attorney's Office, so an outside prosecutor was brought in to avoid potential conflicts.

Yes, that must have been so frustrating for the family that the police let CW go. Then they had to search for him and found him wandering around not in Irondequoit. I wonder what it means that security video saw the car going down the street w CW following on foot. The big mystery is why Ted went to Irondequoit - did he just happen on CW whom he’d known in the past or did he go specifically to see him?

I hit a "subscribers sign in" block but clicked the x in the right corner and was able to read the article. Finally, we know h ow they knew each other:
The home where the body of Brighton businessman Edward "Ted" Boucher was found — the corpse stuffed under a porch —was a popular haven of prostitution and rampant drug use.

There, at 403 Helendale Rd. in Irondequoit, women rented rooms from the homeowner, Christopher "C.J." Wernle, and brought johns for prostitution. Boucher was a frequent visitor through a relationship with one of those women.

Longtime drug dealer Jason Siplin knows Wernle from selling him drugs and was also in jail in May 2021. Siplin, now accused of a role in a drug trafficking network, is expected to testify that Wernle admitted to the homicide and gave details only known to the police.
Wernle allegedly told Siplin that he asked Boucher for money and, when Boucher refused, "he killed him."
As for the jailbird confession, I never know what to think of one criminal confessing to another.

I was wondering if this case was ever going to go to trial. Sad for TB’s family, but it’s necessary for justice for him. Do not think defense has much of a chance.

Thanks for the update.
I don't see an X, but it might be because I'm not in the US.

I had thought it might be something along those lines, sex I mean.

I feel for his family.

Christopher 'CJ' Wernle accused of murdering businessman Ted Boucher

Boucher was a frequent visitor through a relationship with one of those women.

Wernle is now accused of fatally bludgeoning Boucher, who was 65. Special prosecutor Todd Casella maintained in his opening statement Monday in Wernle's trial that Wernle had grown jealous over the relationship.

Irondequoit man found guilty of murder in beating death of Ted Boucher

Woman testifies she and slain businessman Ted Boucher had a six-year relationship

The relationship with Boucher and LA, 32, started as a prostitution connection, but developed into something more, with him helping pay her rent and even giving her money during her prison stint...
...
A estimated that Boucher had given her more than $100,000 in the year before his death.
...
Wernle sometimes urged A to secure money from Boucher, she said.
...
Wernle occasionally said that Boucher "didn't deserve the money that he had," A testified.
