I believe Nye to be Philipstown Doe, found in 1985, and I submitted to both NYS and Namus. Some confusion may have stopped an earlier comparison because NY lists Nye as having a warrant issued in 1989, though he actually escaped in February 1983.

PMI is 20 months, and other details match. Doe was found with some items implying he may have been traveling with a trucker, and was wearing multiple sets of clothing but no other carried items were found. That would fit with someone on the lam, who also died of hypothermia.

Another site also says Doe had once worn braces, so that could be a comparison point to check.

I received a response from NYS that VICAP is looking into this. I can't see how this couldn't be Philipstown Doe, but hoping for further updates!
