I honestly understand where the rage and desire to kill these bastards comes in. Believe me, I do. That would be my first impulse. However, look at what can happen when parents of child victims do the "right" thing. Jessica's laws. Amber alerts. These laws and systems that are now in place were created out of parents' grief. They are doing more good than killing one perp. Think how many victims can be helped by doing the right thing and not just getting a second's satisfaction by putting a bullet into the head of these molesters. Good things, good changes, take time. These impulse kills may feel good for the short term, but these parents are serving up their childrens' futures on a silver platter when they have to go away to prison.

Then there is the case of Jeffrey Doucet, shot by Gary Plauche in the Baton Rouge airport. Doucet had kidnapped and sexually assaulted Plauche's 11 year old son. He was caught and was being returned to Louisiana. Plauche hid in the airport and blew Doucet's head off as he walked by in custody. This happened March 16th, 1984.

Plauche offered a guilty plea to manslaughter and was given 5 year's probation. I would have given him a medal.

I can understand the Mom's reaction. I would like to know what was happening in those two weeks between the attack on her daughter and the shooting. What was her husband's reaction to the attack? Was there a police report filed? Was the daughter having major problems? And what was the mother's history, had she been sexually assaulted in the past? And how much of this is being "spun?" They are saying she was "fondled", but Momma's reaction makes me wonder if this wasn't more.

What is hardest for me, and what I would hope that as a mother I would have thought about, would be that after an attack like that the daughter would need her mother. Her mother's presence and her attention. Possibly she would need psychiatric attention, but she would also need her parents to help her keep her life in balance. Now instead of an issue that needs to be dealt with and trying to get life back to normal, this has become a major part of her life.

Instead, her mother's and probably father's attention will be consumed with police interviews, arrest, lawyer consults, financial considerations.... everywhere but on the child.

For the pervert, I feel no sympathy and actually I too am glad that no other kid will have to worry about him. For the mother, I have some understanding. But my sympathy is really with the child. When she needs her mother the most, she is busy dealing with her own problems.

It boils down to this - it truly does.

Who in the world doesn't understand wanting to hurt someone who hurts your child? But when such a decision only serves to further harm the child, what has been gained? It's heartbreaking.

First, The fool who made the first comment is exactly the kind of person who makes excuses for a pedophile. How many times have I heard "he was playful with the girls..." or "they were wrestling around when IT happened". HE IS A PERVERT! He sexually touched a little girl!!! STOP DEFENDING THE CREEP! I hate people like this Jaycnta, people like her are the reason why our laws on sex offenders are so lax! Her "its no big deal" attitude is why we have freaking colonies of child rapists living under bridges in Florida and all over the country instead of them sitting in prison or even better, buried in the ground.

Second statement: OVER PROTECTIVE MOTHER? HELL YEAH! I wish more women were overprotective instead of how many mothers are. How many of these skanks have we seen on WS? How many have ALLOWED boyfriends, neighbors or even strangers to molest their kids? We see it almost everyday!

Now, about the child. I feel very sorry for her. I do. I hope the people on the jury feel pity on her and allow her mother to raise her. This child told her mother and her mother snapped. We all know the laws do not protect our kids but only protects the rights of the molester. WE KNOW THAT. It is unfair and this poor baby will have to see how unfair it is if some people feel more sympathy for a dead child molester than a mother who only wanted to protect her kid!

I really, really feel for parents in this situation. Every single thread on molestation--on any crime board--is full of posters swearing up and down that they would torture and kill anyone who did that to their child, that the accused would be dead before even going into the court system--and if you say that that kind of vigilante justice is never a good idea, often accusations of "you must not care about your children" are tossed around. But then when someone actually does take the law into their own hands, there's a lot of tsk-tsking over how the child's life is now doubly ruined because the parent is headed for prison.

Yeah, it is called venting. Most of us here have seen way to many cases where the child has been attacked, assaulted, terrified, tortured, and often killed. Many who are on this board were assaulted at some point in their lives, sometimes as kids. Yes, it raises a lot of emotion.

I can't speak for others on this board (actually I almost can because the issue has come up before), but for myself I may say it. But down deep I understand the facts on why this type of action is wrong. And most of the others do to. That doesn't stop me from saying if I had the chance what I would do to him. But down deep I know I wouldn't.

Like Jeana I have seen others who have accomplished things after tragedies that happened in their families. When Jessica Lunsford was found, that is really one that if a lynch party had joined up, I probably would have joined. Yet Mark Lunsford put me to shame. He is the one who lost. He is the one who lived through a period of suspicion. But he didn't do it, so I know for a fact that I don't have the right to do it.

Yes, we say if we got a chance we would kill. But believe me, I wouldn't and I don't believe that most here would do it.

What I would like to know is where did they all come from? I know when I was a kid, I left home in the morning and didn't come home til sunset. My parents never worried about my getting stolen, molested or worse, murdered. And I'm sure that alot of others posters childhoods where the same.

So what has happened in our society to bring these freaks to the forefront? I don't agree with vigilante justice, but when it comes to mothers protecting their young, anything goes. Wild animals are more protective over their young than what I have witnessed in the human animal, as of late and that is SAD, in my opinion.

I think if it were me in her situation, I think I would want the PERV to go to prision with the label of "child molestor".....let BUBBA have his way is what I say.........

While I certainly understand a parent's anger if this were to happen to their children but in the end how does it better the situation for the child or the family as a whole ? Having a mother or father in some dank dark prison somewhere for years is not in their best interest either.

Some of these parents are doing life in prison.

I know I would feel rage if some perverted female grabbed one of my teenage grandsons trying to molest them or if a slimy man tried to grab my granddaughters trying to molest them but I don't think I would think murder was the answer to it all even though I would be angry and pizzed to the max.

I have always felt that vigilante justice only exacerbates the problem. It is never the answer........not for the parent and certainly not in the best interest of the child. Children of murderers have a very difficult time coping and often can be filled with rage themselves and keep the violence going.

Due respect, Ciara, but I couldn't disagree with this statement more. No earthly judicial system is capable of satisfying everyone. There will always be those who take "justice" into their own hands and blame the system.

Vengeance and the desire to see someone pay are innately human. People will "feel that need" regardless of what judicial system we set up. IMHO, blaming the system for an individual's poor choices is a copout.

That said, I understand that "the system" can lend itself to the frustration many of us would feel in our quest for immediate justice if we or someone we loved had been harmed.

LOL, I will probably be flamed for this but to some extent I blame the internet. Before their were sex offenders, but they didn't know there were others out there or who they were or how to reach them. They felt alone and so weren't quite as bold. Also, child porn would have been harder to get hold of, so they weren't quite as inflamed.

But with the internet, now they know others. And they pass tips and offer support to each other. And I think to some extent they egg each other on. Plus child porn is easier to obtain. As a result they are bolder. Also, in this day and culture to risk is considered brave.
