Trans kids' lives matter :'(*

ETA: maybe the child wasn't trans if the mother was deciding what clothes to dress them in. But for that to be a reason is so sad.

The mom started dressing the boy in girl's clothes when he was a newborn and telling people the baby was a girl. That isn't trans....that's an issue with the mom.

From the start, this relationship between the teacher and the student was doomed. It's heartbreaking that a child suffered because of it, and from what the neighbors are saying, he was a bright and energetic boy. The world lost what he had to offer.

There could still be transphobia as a motive, I think. It's all unfortunate.

I bet the "girl" clothes was regular clothes honestly. I've met men with ridiculous beliefs concerning colors and styles. Usually they grew up in a psycho macho household where wearing any pastel color meant you were "gay". Sick sad world.

hmmm....not so sure. If you look at some photos that have been posted online, they do look like "girl" clothes as defined by our culture. In one picture, the baby is all in pink. And the mom claimed the boy was a girl when he was born. A statement like that is not ambivalent. He was a newborn boy that the mom said was a girl.

I think the dad was mad because the MOM was making that choice, not because the child was. (But, yes, I totally understand that any reaction is saying that trans is bad, and I don't personally think trans is bad. Hope that is clear. Someone reacting violently over gender clothes is way over the top and completely wrong.)

And, I think he was a young man completely over his head in this situation. The child support was probably weighing heavy on him, though he was working. I think he felt trapped - not only did he have a son to support, but the son was being raised in a way he didn't like. I think the resentment built up until it blew up. No excuse, of course!!

I edited my post. I didn't notice the mom was passing the child off as a girl (especially since being a newborn..just odd) Just a sad and bizarre story all around.

I agree with your analysis.

Egad. It keeps getting worse.

The killer confessed that his little 4yo son Miguel saw him kill the mother, and that's when the father then strangled Miguel and put him in the tub. (He did not drown as had been reported.)

"Miguel Barahona was in the bathroom when an enraged Isaac Infante attacked Felicia Barahona, and the killer was standing over her lifeless body when the little boy emerged, the sources said.

Duran then choked his helpless son to death, placing the boy’s body into the bathtub before fleeing the apartment, the sources said Wednesday.

Infante, 23, faces two counts of first-degree murder in the double homicide. He admitted entering the apartment on Christmas night with the intention of murdering his ex-lover, sources said."

Man Gets Life In Prison For Murder Of Girlfriend And Their Child

https://patch.com/new-york/harlem/man-gets-life-prison-killing-ex-teacher-lovechild-da

Isaac Duran Infante, 24, was sentenced to 25-years-to-life in state prison Tuesday, prosecutors announced. He pleaded guilty to killing Felicia Barahona, 36 and Miguel Barahona, 4, in their Harlem apartment building on West 153rd Street between Broadway and Riverside Drive, prosecutors said.

"As families across New York welcome the arrival of the holiday season, one family continues to mourn the loss of a mother and child at the hands of Isaac Duran Infante," Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. said in a statement. "This defendant committed not one but two inconceivable acts of murder against the mother of his child and his defenseless 4-year-old son, and he did so in one of the most violent and personal ways imaginable."
