Well. Nothing new under the sun, as they say -- don't know if body has been released, have not seen a funeral announcement or case tidbits in local media, have no new #RUMOR -type things. Hm. Anyway, if you're following, here are URL for local and local/ish print media....

Any mentions on Facebook?
Haven't found any new pages and her page is closed to posting (though still observable) and the word "Remembering" appears atop the "Halle Paige (Majestic)" at the top.

So. Six days ago, police sought, found, and interviewed a "potential witness" in the case, ID'd as "Molly."

And so: Why the subsequent silence regarding Halle Schmidt's death & dumping?

Any appeals for information?
As of the 13th per the link above, "Police continue to look for tips."

And so: they're not particularly busting their butts.

Best guesses as to what went on here, and why?

I don't know. Cover up or domestic violence. Maybe both.

Your best guess?

I have wondered about her being bruised/battered but the COD an OD.

Yeah, I'd guess smart money still on OD, so to speak -- an overdose drug death being the least complicated of the theories (i.e., premeditated or other degrees of murder). Occam's Razor shines proudly.

Still....I wonder.

Me, too. But, often I think those who are talking about stopping and moving on with their life are the ones at greatest risk for accidentally harming themselves or od'ing.

Yeah, that's a good point for sure.

I think I'll still go with murder being the case. In for a penny, in for a pound. Wondering about #RUMOR the rather abrupt disappearance of a person reckoned to be at the party beforehand.

That's why I include the likelihood of domestic abuse.

An OD (maybe), a missing person, a body, and another missing person.

I think the # RUMOR has important friends.

from Halle Schmidt's obituary:

Halle was a free spirit who lived her life exactly the way she wanted. She walked her own path and created her own sunshine. She was selfless when it came to her family and friends whom she cared so much about and put before everything.
---
Never judgmental, Halle was outgoing and positive. She lived with no regrets and never wasted time on negativity. She was a creative and artistic soul that saw the world like a blank canvas that she wanted to paint with beauty and vibrant colors.

As in most things justice will come, unless the criminal is bigger than the crime.

Because Sheriff P. Bartlett made a statement on September 12th, two days after the body had been found in Kinderhook, and said that though "no one [had] been arrested ... the public was not at risk", that there were "no suspects at large", and that the department felt confident that "that there [wasn't] an individual running around who would cause harm to the public", I have the following two guesses:

1. Upon receiving the tip (presumably from Molly), and then discovering the body, the cause of death was clearly an overdose to police. I'm not sure, how, exactly, the cause of death could SO obviously be an overdose unless there were a needle sticking out of someone's arm, but this is one way a sheriff could believe that there is absolutely no threat to the public from an "individual running around". If the COD is an overdose, we will know that when the autopsy results come back. I believe that generally takes approximately 2 weeks, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

2. The second guess I have is that the suspect is in custody, though has perhaps not been arrested or charged in the murder/death of Schmidt. Perhaps he was taken into custody for a different crime, and the department has been gathering information/evidence in order to charge him with this one. There was a Facebook post made by one of Schmidt's cousins (I believe) a few weeks ago, or a comment on a post made by her cousin (I don't remember exactly), that said something along the lines of "I hope whoever they have in custody gets what they deserve".

Given the kind of environment and people Halle was running with, I am pretty sure they consider this a contained event. Even if there is foul play in the form of someone responsible for giving her a hot shot or selling bad drugs or even purposely harming her, it isn't a psychopath that is targeting random women, it is someone she knew.

Hard to unscramble, but evidently no arrests per Albany Times Union, 09.12:

---
"We could have a case here ranging from her wandering to a homicide," Sheriff David P. Bartlett said.
---
"We're not able to rule out foul play nor are we able to rule it in," Senior Investigator Kevin Skype said. Officials are awaiting final results of an autopsy performed Sunday [09.11] at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany.

"No one has been arrested but the public is not at risk. There are no suspects at large," Bartlett said, declining to elaborate.

"This isn't a random act," Skype said. "We feel confident that there isn't an individual running around who would cause harm to the public."
