This is shocking! Apparently 3 patients of a NY anesthesiologist have contracted Hep C, the article says from "IV tubing" (not clear exactly what they mean by that--maybe IV insertion). It is unclear if the MD has Hep C.

This is scary. Hep C has a really high transmission rate in needlesticks (something like 1/3 rate of seroconversion). I know someone who got it as a surgery resident after being stuck in the OR by her attending. I hope they figure out what's going on here.
