NY - Internet search history results in LE visit

Lentils don't require a pressure cooker. They cook fast. Red beans, etc. yes, but not lentils.

One or both of them may not have known that. In fact since they were looking at recipes, it's safe to say they didn't. Big Brother is watching and I feel less safe.

I sold my pressure cooker so now the NSA can follow someone else around.

As we all know, LE withholds information. So, there's probably more to this story. But I have to admit that some of the subjects and people I've googled, due mostly to stories I'm researching for WS, would put a huge target on my back. In particular I'd be worried about being accused of sex trafficking and child porn.

A little bit O/T, about 15 years ago there was a loud, repetitious banging on my front door. It was after dark, I was home alone and very nervous. As I peeked out the glass panel next to the door that was covered by blinds, I saw who appeared to be a police officer catch my eye. He was moving from where he'd been standing at the front door, off to the side and up against the house- just like you see in movies- and it looked like he had a a weapon drawn. Then he yelled, "We can do this the easy way or we can do it the hard way!"

I was petrified! I quickly dialed 911 and told dispatch about what appeared to be going on. Due to my dogs going crazy at my feet, and the bizarre nature of the call, the dispatcher was having a little trouble hearing me and trying to figure out what was going on. But I do remember him saying, "Are you saying that an officer is banging on your door with a gun drawn?" "YES!", my voice quaked.

Within one or two minutes, he was gone. I never followed up, but after telling the story to friends, I'm sure he simply had the wrong house. S**t happens, so I didn't consider putting in any kind of complaint.

Moral of the story ... this kind of thing can happen to anyone. And now that government wiretetaps of our phone calls is apparently legal, and any curious individual's google searches will look suspicious ... well, I just don't know where it will all lead. Hopefully, more good than harm will come from these 'red flags'. Only time will tell. The good news is that I don't own either a backpack or pressure cooker!

I don't own a pressure cooker because I'm afraid of them! I know that is crazy, but I am!
Me too! Always have been, too, and thought I was the only one! My mother used them occasionally, and I'm sure she must have mentioned something about a possible explosion. So, as an adult, I stayed as far away from them as possible. I'm not much of a cook, either, and could never fathom the need for such a scary device. Now after all these years, my fear is proven to be not irrational!

I can only hope that they would consider my WS membership as a valid explanation for some of the crazy things I've searched.

I am not sure how true this is. I told my husband oh yeah we can watch a certain show, illegally on the internet. He said oh no we can't the cable company is now watching and can catch us, arghhh. With todays technology I wouldn't count out a data base that watches searches with hit words. Good luck to you all :) hhehehehe
