WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — An 82-year-old woman was found more than one month after being reported missing in Washington Heights, police Said.


Janet Markoe was found safe Friday, police said. The elderly woman was first reported missing on Feb. 22, police said. She was reported missing after disappearing from her West 190th Street home during the early morning hours.


Police did not confirm Markoe's whereabouts during her time missing.

Updated Tuesday, February 24 at 11:19pm: Good news! The NYPD said Janet has “returned home in good health.”

The NYPD is asking for the public’s help finding Janet Markoe, a 79-year-old white female who has schizophrenia. Police issued the silver alert for Janet this evening, and the NYPD said the neighbor was last seen around Crooke and Ocean Avenues on February 9 at about 10:30 am.

Janet was last seen wearing a black jacket, a black hat, and black pants. She is about 5-feet-4-inches tall, 135 pounds, and has green eyes.

She had also gone missing in 2015 from Flatbush Brooklyn. This article has photo of her.

Praying Janet will be found. She went missing from Queens Adult Care Center in the middle of this whole corona virus pandemic .

The whole thing is just so bad with everything that is going on in the city now. I pray she is found just like the last 2 times that she was found!!! it’s also so cold tonight it’s 37 degrees.

Janet Markoe, who is 79 and suffers from schizophrenia, was last seen leaving her Flatbush apartment on Feb. 9 about 10:30 a.m. wearing a black waist jacket and matching pants, police Said.

Janet Markoe, Phillip Arabadjis and Thi Chau were all still missing on Monday, officials said.

Oh great! Yes that is perfect. Oh it just bothers me so much.. she has a walker..you can’t miss that! someone must of seen her.

Iam amazed she was not shared on more sites or local newspapers. but I guess everyone is concerned with pandemic
