NYPD asks for help locating missing Staten Island teacher; friends on edge

Obviously the text is suspicious, IMO.
She missed her mother's birthday and a child custody hearing with her ex-husband on Monday.

ok so she was supposed to pick the kids up at the station house which is typical high conflict custody issues. standard NCP visitation would have this guy being in possession of the children until Sunday night, so why Saturday? unless they had another schedule. anyone know? I apologize I am late to this one.

Staten Island missing teacher’s estranged husband may not appear in court Thursday, sources say

"A source at the scene said the apparent remains were found inside a bin wrapped in a black bag, which was tied. The bag was located in a room within the facility, the source added.

According to surveillance video acquired by police, Michael Cammarata was seen leaving his apartment with a large bag Saturday, then later showed up at the storage facility on Arden Avenue, the New York Daily News reported."

It would have to be VERY unusual for a custody exchange to be done at a police station. In fact, I've never heard of that specifically; if a parent has supervised visitation, it's usually at the social worker's office, and I do know that my city has a few public places where parents who are prohibited from being together with their children can drop off and pick up the kids - and they have zero tolerance for any funny stuff.

its typical in high conflict cases, in CA anyways. they either do police station (a la aremazzd andressian) paid supervised exchange or some non profits offer the service at certain times in a neutral area.

There was no formal visitation agreement in place. They worked it out amongst themselves, but he had not let her see the kids for 2 months prior to her disappearance.

Especially when she was supposed to pick up her kids (from ex?) at a police station. That isn't a normal transfer, is it?
umm... Yeah. That is concerning

Pick up a police station means he either is a police officer or the transfers are supervised

This guy's a monster!

It sounds to me as if he used her kids against her, I highly doubt she would go to his house, it sounds like she was so afraid of him. But if he's been with holding her children from her, and then offers an olive branch, 'just come on over and you can see them here', of course she went. Ugh. Of course she did.

I'm going with the idea that he's been terrorizing his own GF too - because that is literally the only thing I can come up with to explain her being around while her BF is stalking his wife, let alone potentially helping him murder her.

For anyone who would like to listen to Nancy Grace podcast today:

Jessica Pobega’s husband A.J. Carbonari joined Nancy Grace for the latest episode of “Crime Stories with Nancy Grace,” which will air Thursday afternoon. In the interview, Carbonari explained that it was automatically suspicious for Jeanine to be communicating from her Facebook account, as she typically only used her phone — because her estranged husband had apparently hacked into other accounts in the past.

Carbonari also said he had viewed surveillance footage of the Verrazano Bridge, which leads to Staten Island from Brooklyn, showing Jeanine’s car going over the bridge on Sunday, followed later by Michael Cammarata’s car. Carbonari said he believed Michael would have no reason to be in Staten Island on a Sunday.

Jeanine Cammarata, Michael Cammarata
Days after a first-grade teacher from Staten Island went missing, the father of two of her children has been taken into police custody, according to multiple sources. Michael Cammarata, right, of Queens was held overnight at the 120th Precinct stationhouse in St. George, sources said. While he is under arrest, he is not being charged at this time in connection with the disappearance of Jeanine Cammarata, left, 37, of New Brighton, one law enforcement source said.
"During questioning he told police they met and had sex — and that he hit her, sources said."
This gut has serious issues. It appears she was terrified of him. However, as per him, she had sex with him? Ugh!

I couldn’t get the photo above off my response, somehow accidentally attached. Thinking he forced her to have sex with him if she wanted to see the children. Such a monster.

Body found in storage facility in search for missing teacher believed to be mom-of-three Jeanine Cammarata; source says her body may have been burned

The New York Post reports that a body was found at the Extra Space Storage on Arden Avenue in Arden Heights, on Staten Island, early Thursday morning. According to the report, a heavy police presence has been at the storage facility on Thursday, five days after Cammarata, 37, was last seen.

A source with knowledge of the investigation told CrimeOnline that the body is confirmed to be Cammarata, a mother of three and a public school teacher in Staten Island. The source said they were told the body was burned, which may be delaying a positive identification. Law enforcement has not yet officially confirmed the body is the missing woman, and have not made any statements about the condition of the remains.

From that article :

Authorities have not confirmed if the remains found at the facility in Staten Island belonged to Jeanine Cammarata, 37, who was last seen alive at about 9 pm. Saturday at her boyfriend’s home in the New Springville neighborhood of Staten Island, The New York Daily News reported. Police reportedly went to the storage facility after spotting the teacher's estranged husband, Michael Cammarata, 42, at the location on surveillance video. He was also seen leaving his apartment with a large bag.

“The NYPD early Thursday discovered remains on Staten Island and is working now to make a positive identification," the NYPD said. “A connection to the missing teacher has not been verified.”

On Wednesday, Michael Cammarata was arrested and charged with assault, harassment and stalking for a past incident involving Cammarata, police told Fox News.

Staten Island missing teacher’s estranged husband may not appear in court Thursday, sources say

It was initially thought that Michael Cammarata would be arraigned at Criminal Court sometime Thursday on the misdemeanor case, but multiple sources said he might not be produced until later in the afternoon, if at all.

I watched a video that said the estranged husband's home is in Far Rockaway, and the divorce and/or custody proceedings have been going on for about a year & a half.

In video at link below, reporter states they both had filed mutual DV complaints against each other in the past, but her attorney said they had withdrawn the paperwork.

Anyone know what his occupation is?

Yes. This week’s appearance was a last ditch effort by the courts to get Jeanine and her husband to agree on a custody / visitation arrangement. If no agreement could be met, which looks to be the case, they would begin trial at the end of April. In custody cases where a trial looks to be likely, it is scheduled in advance of other appearances. This is usually due to scheduling restrictions on the part of the presiding judge and individual lawyers on the case, with the severity of the allegations being taken into consideration. Full disclosure: the judge they were set to appear before, Ralph Porzio, was my lawyer back in 2017 when I was fighting my husband for custody of our child. Ralph only recently left private practice in January, after being elected as a Supreme Court judge. He’s tough as hell. MC is not very bright — he’s never been bright IMO. There’s no way Porzio would grant joint custody, and I bet MC knew that. Jeanine was surely going to get sole custody, and Mc parenting time, possibly supervised if not already. MC didn’t bother to even hire a lawyer or request a legal aid to be assigned. He’s listed as pro se on the docket. Makes you wonder why he didn’t bother getting counsel.

because they are narcissistic sociopaths who don't think they are doing anything wrong and that everyone else is wrong.
