Details of Disappearance
Jeanne resided in a farmhouse near Knox-Gallupville Road in Knox, New York. She met her second husband, John Scrima, while she was employed as a restaurant in the New York City borough of the Bronx. Their marriage was troubled by February 1980 and Jeanne planned to file for divorce. She met John Sidney around the same time and the two began having an affair. Sidney's marriage was ending and Jeanne told him that she was divorced from her husband. Sidney resided in Schoharie County, New York and was employed as a General Electric plant designer in Schenectady, New York. Jeanne and Sidney drove to Erie, Pennsylvania on March 17, 1980. They stayed at the Hilton hotel while Sidney attended to company business. Jeanne told John that she was visiting loved ones in the area. She learned that her husband realized she was having an affair during a phone conversation with her sister on March 18. Jeanne told Sidney that she was still married and needed to return to Knox the following morning. She promised her four children that she would be home by the time they returned from school in the afternoon. Jeanne departed from Erie during the morning hours of March 19. She was driving her light blue 1977 Lincoln Continental at the time. The car had New York license plates numbered 458LXS. Authorities believe that she arrived at her family's residence in the early afternoon, but her whereabouts after that time period are unknown. Jeanne has never been heard from again. John failed to report his wife's disappearance to authorities. Her attorney filed a missing person's report after he was unable to contact her by May 4, 1980. Sidney cooperated with the investigation and was eliminated as a possible suspect after passing a polygraph exam. John refused to speak with authorities and retained a lawyer shortly after Jeanne's disappearance was reported. He sold the family's farmhouse and relocated to Esperance, New York in 1981. Jeanne's vehicle was spotted in Fultonville, New York several weeks after she was reported missing. Investigators determined that the car passed through several owners in Ohio before it was discovered abandoned in Michigan on October 5, 1980. No evidence related to Jeanne's case was found inside the vehicle. Authorities said that Jeanne told John about her plans to open a restaurant in Ducenesburg, New York with the money she would receive from the sale of their property after their divorce. Investigators said that they wanted to question John about his wife's case, but all attempts have been unsuccessful. There have not been any arrests in connection with Jeanne's disappearance, which remains unsolved. Foul play is suspected in her case.

According to this article, her husband (whom she was in the process of divorcing), had worked in construction and was a cement mason. She told her boyfriend that she would use her share of the money from the sale of the family home after the divorce to open a restaurant.
The fact he never reported her missing AND that he worked in construction AND that was a cement mason keeps going through my head. Red Flag Moment:eek:
I wonder if they checked any job sites he was working on at the time?
I don't think she was in the house since the kids were there and they would of noticed or remembered something odd going on (Iam assuming this of course).

I wonder if this UID found May 1980 was ever looked at? The car made it to Ohio right? Could she have been in the trunk the whole time until the car made it to Ohio? Then dumped in the river?

I know the area well. There was no need for her husband to dump her at any construction site. Not only the the area heavily wooded but there are also numerous cave networks in the area. I doubt her body will ever be found if it was dumped there. It's mostly private property and any cave entrance could have been buried or caved in by now.

The age is different, but the ring... it would be great to know more details about Jeanne's ring, if it belonged to someone else, who made it...

It is more than clear that it was the husband... scorned, he felt less of a man knowing that she would leave him for another man... although her mistake was having maintained another relationship while married... surely the husband, wounded in his miserable manhood by the deception, ordered her to be killed... perhaps he paid the hitman with the car... and he sold it so as not to leave a trace... why didn't he just let her go? How can a man feel like that after that? Cuckolding hurts but not to kill someone... what I don't understand is why the police don't just question him? It's as if they were afraid of him...
whatever it is
Rest in peace

A 1977 Lincoln would still be a pretty expensive car in 1980. Be interesting to find why it was abandoned and who owned it after Jeanne.

Knox, New York Woman Disappears After Pennsylvania Trip

In February 1980, Jeanne Marie Scrima's 2nd marriage was on the rocks.

The 44-year-old was planning on filing for divorce from her husband John Scrima, but during the process ended up having an affair with another man named John Sidney from Schoharie County, New York

While this all sounds like your run of the mill love triangle, unfortunately it comes to an end when Jeanne goes missing after a trip to Pennsylvania on March 17th, 1980.

According to The Charlie Project, Jeanne and John Sidney took a drive to Erie, PA where Sidney was to attend a business meeting. Jeanne, still very married to her husband, told him she would be in PA visiting family.

The trip does not go as planned. Jeanne's husband finds out she was having an affair, so she cuts the trip short and tells Sidney that she was still married and needed to go home to see her 4 children.

At this point Jeanne leaves Pennsylvania the morning of March 19th, 1980.

Jeanne is driving a light blue, 1977 Lincoln Continental with New York license plate number: 458LXS.

Jeanne Marie Scrima has been missing since that day in March 1980.

The Charlie Project reports that authorities believe Jeanne made it to her home in Knox, New York by early afternoon that day 45-years-ago, but she hasn't been heard from since.

Suspiciously, her husband (who recently found out she was having an affair) failed to report his wife missing. It was Jeanne's attorney who filed the missing persons report.

John Sidney cooperated with police and took a polygraph test that eliminated him as suspect. John Scrima did not cooperate with police, retained a lawyer and moved his family to a different New York Town.

The car Jeanne was last seen driving was spotted in Fultonville, New York in the fall of 1980. The Charlie Project explains that Investigators "determined that the car passed through several owners in Ohio" before it was found abandoned in Michigan in 1980.

o evidence was found in the vehicle.
