The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is asking for help locating a missing man from North Carolina who was last seen leaving the RIT Inn and Conference Center in Henrietta Tuesday morning.

Jeffrey Meredith, 70, was in the Rochester area visiting relatives from Pittsboro, North Carolina.

Police responded to a call on Macedon Center Road in Perinton on Tuesday for a report of a missing person.

His family says they found his vehicle in the driveway at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday after last speaking to him Monday night.

Police say Meredith checked into the RIT Inn on Monday at around 3:50 p.m. before leaving the hotel around 2:10 a.m. Tuesday.

Meredith is described as 5’6” and weighing 120 lbs. He has gray/black hair and hazel eyes. He has a protrusion on his left forehead, and a missing front tooth.

Meredith was last seen wearing dark-colored shorts and a dark-colored shirt.

Search efforts of Meredith's hotel room and the Perinton residence and surrounding neighborhood were unsuccessful.

Anyone with information is being asked to call 911.

Why would Jeffrey decide to leave at 2:10 AM? Where was he going? Did he drive to the relatives house and parked the vehicle there? If so, why?

He is familiar enough with the area that he could drive at night to the house ??? Whats the seat position ?? and mirrors ?? maybe he didn't drive himself...and of course...how about security video ?????

I live in the area, and, although we don’t know where exactly on Macedon Center Road his car was located, it tends to be pretty rural (lots of farmland, houses set back from the road and/or spaced out from one another). It’s roughly a 30-minute drive from the hotel he was staying at to his relatives’ home. From what I can gather, he was spotted alone leaving the hotel, so I tend to believe he left of his own volition. Why he drove to their house in the middle of the night without communicating with them and where he disappeared to, I can’t begin to imagine.

what condition was the car in ?? out of gas, battery trouble ???? does it have gps ? Or maybe his phone
does ????

My heart goes out to his family - they must be so worried and confused. I am trying to think of scenarios that would explain leaving his hotel at 2 am? A phone call? Needing something fairly urgent from an all night store/pharmacy? Needing medical care? But if he had a medical emergency surely he would’ve contacted family? And it’s even more confusing that his vehicle was found in the family’s driveway. I know it was found about four hours after he left the hotel, but I wish we knew how long it had been in the driveway by 6:30 am.

Just a guess but I imagine that’s the time it was noticed in the driveway by a family member. It could’ve been there for hours or a short time.

Hoping but doubting the family would have any security cameras unless they have a doorbell cam like Ring.

Praying for a positive outcome.

he must have been seen leaving the hotel at that hour by desk clerk or security guard and had an interaction ?? Mr HC and I have stayed in hotels and gotten in "late" and there was plenty of desk personnel and security guards around

Ok questions:

Were Jeffrey’s personal belongings found in the room and/or his vehicle, such as cell phone, wallet, keys? Was the vehicle locked?

Who saw him leaving the hotel? An actual witness or did LE request security tapes and just see him leaving the hotel alone on video, meaning no staff etc saw or spoke to him at that time?

Did he speak with any of his family (either those he was visiting or otherwise) after he checked into the hotel around 4pm? Had the family made any plans or had Jeffrey decided to stay in that evening, perhaps tired from traveling, etc? I know when visiting family but staying in a hotel I would normally “make a plan” for getting together either that evening or the next day, and would check in with relatives at least once after checking into my hotel. I know that’s just me

What was the reason for the visit? A family gathering or celebration? During COVID there’s so little of that but it depends on where you are and your comfort level.

There’s so little info. When the vehicle was found did they try calling Jeffrey? Did the phone go to voicemail? Does his phone have a “find my phone” capability? I’m sure LE is tracking all that unless the phone was in his room or vehicle.

If the family residence is so far from the hotel and in a more rural setting, could he have managed to get there but then instead of going to the door, just wandered off? Without knowing if there’s any memory issues and I’m not saying there are, it’s strange to think that would be the case.

Is it his personal vehicle or a rental?

So many things popping into my head, can’t help it, sorry. Wish we had more info. There’s just really none out there!

Not at all !!!! my little head goes round and round and I get in question mode......My question today is : How much gas is in the car ? Did he stop recently ???? Maybe its on tape or he spoke with a gas station attendant
