A pregnant woman was stabbed to death in the entryway of her Ridgewood, Queens apartment building early Sunday morning. Hours later, the NYPD was narrowing in on a suspect, CBS New York reported.

A candle burned outside the apartment building where 35-year-old real estate agent Jennifer Irigoyen was savagely stabbed to death. Police said her unborn child did not survive.

Oh I read about this earlier.....how terrible. I felt like crying when I read in another article that she was screaming to save her baby. Jeez, how awful.

ETA I would think this murder should be solved quickly due to several surveillance cameras in the area.

The victim — a classically trained pianist who sold luxury homes and also worked as a professional Latin ballroom dancer and Zumba instructor — was stabbed several times in her neck and the left side of her stomach, police sources said.

There are witnesses. One man saw the whole thing unfold. She was screaming that "he's going to kill the baby". The killer dragged her down the stairs from the third floor and then stabbed her in the vestibule.

This is an absolutely horrific crime. Please let this killer be caught as quickly as possible!

Was this random? It doesn't sound like it to me, but what a chance the attacker took by stabbing her in such an almost-public place. I hope LE can find out more about her current situation -- it could add to whatever evidence they already have. This kind of thing used to be rare, and now it's almost an everyday thing -- blatant murders. SMH.

Many more, those are just two I can think of...the most dangerous time for a woman, is when she is pregnant. Homocide, number 1 reason for death for pregnant women. Usually by the men they are involved with.

I believe it is a control issue. The man finally has a situation completely out of his control.

Yes, we've seen a number of pregnant women slain by their boyfriends, fiances, or husbands. It is certainly a control issue and one of extreme selfishness -- he figures he can only control the pregnancy by one method, assuming either abortion or offering the baby for adoption is not a consideration, and that is the murder of the mother and the new life within her. Yep, it's all resolved now. No babies (or no more babies, depending on the situation). Back in control.

And now the world has yet another young person who now has no mother. Twelve years old is a tuff enuff time all on its own -- but now this young man has lost probably the most important person in his world. He's just out there wondering how his life could have changed so much in one day. So many tragedies from one horrible action.
Just dammit.
