I suspected this might be a possibility. Thankfully this guy has plenty of other charges against him to put him away for a long time. "A man accused of stabbing his pregnant girlfriend to death had an additional criminal charge dropped because of a new law that was recently signed by the Governor of New York.
Anthony Hobson, 48, was charged with second-degree murder for allegedly slaying his partner, 35-year-old real estate agent Jennifer Irigoyen.
Hobson was initially charged with second-degree abortion since Irigoyen was pregnant when she was killed, but the Queen’s District Attorney’s office told the New York Post that it had to drop the charge because of the law signed by Cuomo.
Part of the law, known as the Reproductive Health Act, removes abortion from the state’s criminal code and changes the definition of homicide to no longer include the unborn...."

Anthony Hobson was silent and stone-faced in Queens Criminal Court Friday, where he appeared for the murder of Jennifer Irigoyen inside her Ridgewood building on Feb. 4.
Hobson’s is lawyer, Steven Questore, rejected an agreement with prosecutors that would have had his client released deal — 26 1/3 to 29 years for killing Jennifer Irigoyen and 1 1/3 to 4 years for tampering with evidence...."
