Aww, I just saw about the search being canceled. That's a bummer. But I know you (Jillian) are caught between a rock and a hard place, wanting so badly to help, yet being met with such huge resistance from certain parties.

I hope LE is truly working hard to find Jennifer, and I hope we'll see more searches being planned - by whomever - in the near future.

Your last two sentences there, very well-said! :rocker:

I can see maybe waiting on forensics to make an arrest. But I still don't understand about the searches, because it seems like finding Jennifer would be of the utmost importance regardless. And the sooner the better, I would think, for so many many reasons.

I can see wanting professionals to search, so that evidence isn't compromised, but they're not doing a lot of searches.

What the heck? :waitasec:

This sounds like a "Catch-22" situation....

Searches need to be organized to try to find Jennifer...

The LE (whom I respect) seem to have limitations on time/available officers/etc.....

Many public/community members want to help search...

Someone(s) is afraid to have non-professionals search...

Therefore... few searches are conducted!

:(

I have a hard time with LE ever saying they don't want searches done, when they have not, obviously, found the person. And when they do not appear to be actively searching on their own.

Can anyone think of any "harm to the investigation" that might occur by searching OTHER THAN coming upon evidence and disrupting the scene? I feel like we're missing something here, and I'm not understanding how a search could impede the investigation. Is it just because of potential evidence, or is there some other key reason that LE would be discouraging a search? (I'm not talking about safety, or private property laws, or lack of experience, or anything of that nature)

It makes no sense to me. Yes, sometimes LE only wants trained searchers, but they don't seem to be even asking for that here. Unless they can provide a very compelling reason to her family, i think it is their right to search. JMO

Well, by the posts from Jennifer's family members, including Jennifer's mother, sister, and others, after they talked to LE, they found LE's reasons compelling and don't support the search that was planned.

I think that's their right too, and that people should respect it. Just MOO though.

If that is the case, it should not be an issue. But my understanding was that her family wanted the searching done.

Still, makes me wonder. Does no searching mean that LE does not believe she is out there to be found?

Well, I linked to some of the posts from Jennifer's mom and sister above, and here's another from her cousin

I can't tell what LE thinks. They could have reason to think she's been abducted out of the area. They could be trying to narrow down to specific effective search areas. They just haven't given any indication of their working theories that I've seen.

I hope LE knows what they are doing. I am from that general area as well, and they do not have a whole lot of experience in cases like this one, as far as I know.

The thing is, though, that if they don't think she's out there (in the local area), then at worst, searching for her would be a waste of time. There would be no evidence to actually disturb, right? They might discourage searches based on safety reasons or something, instead of claiming that it might "harm the investigation" (per the cousin's post).

Totally random thought here, but I've been wondering if the Evening Sun guy is in close contact with the non-LE people who are so adamently against a search of any kind. That first thing he wrote about everyone suddenly being a detective was just plain rude, and really, what's it to him? I never saw whatever he was posting earlier today about the search, but it got me thinking about it.

What about Texasequisearch?

Like other SAR Organizations, Texasequuasearch must be asked to help, either by the missing persons' family or by LE. If neither the family or LE wants a SAR in to help, then I don't see it happening.

Well, from what I've seen written, LE have only objected to "non-professional" searching? And it looks like Jennifer's family would like to see searches, provided LE are on board, so it could be worth a try.

It's a good suggestion, and I hope that her family will pursue new searches. I feel really sorry for her poor mom (and other family members, as well). She seems very grateful that people are wanting to help, but also very unsure about what LE thinks is best. I find this unfortunate, as it must be so very hard not knowing what is what when you have a missing loved one.

Someone in a fb comment said they'd emailed Nancy Grace. As much as some people hate her, we gotta admit that she gets to the bottom of cases just like this one! Unfortunately, the Jodi Arias trial will have top coverage until it's done, so it's highly doubtful she would cover Jennifer's case any time soon.

Yes, this seems odd, right? Has anyone seen cases before where LE were discouraging searches, when they weren't themselves actively searching? Any ideas why this would be?

I wonder... perhaps they are searching, and they don't want anyone to know? After the deletion of those posts from the other search and rescue team about being in the area, too.

Yes maybe they are searching secretly although I'm not sure why. Maybe they also are concerned that if someone thinks they are searching and may be close to finding something that he could become dangerous to someone besides Jennifer.

There's definitely something major going on behind the scenes IMO. When Mickey went missing, the PD completely supported the family and friend's efforts to get a search going, I assume because they had no clue as to what happened to her. The only thing I can think of is that the PD know WAY more than they are letting on here, and only time will tell I guess. Frustrating, I know.

I don't know what to make of GR. He definitely gives off strange vibes, but the police haven't said he's not cooperating or anything. I just don't know.

Come home soon Jennifer :(

I'm wondering if there were some private searches with SAR dogs or with other local groups. I believe I read somewhere that Wilderness Search & Rescue may have been involved or at least it was described on FB and then comments were later deleted.

My thoughts now is that something has been found and they are trying to hone in. I could be way off base though..

I just can't imagine not wanting a search. I respect LE and the family of Jennifer but it seriously makes no sense. Unless they think there is a local crime scene and are either waiting to find it or already have.

If they believe that she was abducted, a search would be no threat. Also if they believe that she left on her own accord, there would be no crime scene to disrupt.

Clearly, IMO, they believe that there is a crime scene and that something has happened to Jennifer.

Now just where, when, how, and who?

After all the craziness yesterday with GR, I can honestly say that he's a real piece of work. Definitely not acting like someone who's wife is missing in any capacity.

I missed the whole FB threat thing --- can anyone elaborate?

TIA
