While I am happy to see they finally arrested someone- I am still saddened that it is Remy... I guess part of me is still in disbelief or was clinging to something other than what my gut was telling me - but my heart goes out to the children to lose their mother and now their father - especially under these circumstances. I am anxious to hear the COD and other info from the LE. Now that he is arrested, will they share that information or not until he goes to trial etc.?

It is also very heartwarming to see so many of you in support for Jennifer and justice for her - I believe she felt a little isolated and felt that there were not too many around to support her - or at least those closest to her werent (not her family...I believe she knew or suspected the affair and refer to them) THANK YOU ALL!!!

My heart goes out to you, Magiefeu. I have a murderer and a murder victim in my own family. I know what you are going through. Murderers cause huge amounts of collateral damage.

My heart too, goes out to the children. But not because they have lost their father. Not if he's found guilty of murder. I think we are all better off without murderers, even the nicest ones.

I have a bad feeling his family will come up with the bail.

In this article a supporter of Jennifer says she is nervous because 'they have a lot of money'.

I presume that's not GR she is referencing, with all his judgements and debts? So probably close family, or extended family? I guess they must all have very high-flying jobs, to come up with that amount of money. Perhaps it's that family business GR was part of? But then I wonder why he didn't seem to make much money out of it......I don't know, I'm not a business person.

The thought of making a mistake and the tax authorities getting me puts me off. Their penalties are very severe, and their investigations are worse than LE's, I hear.

Thanks zwiebel....and sorry for your loss/experiences...it is difficult and sad that such things exist but I guess it's the depravity of man. I did chuckle a bit at your last comment... I agree that any murderer is better off locked up away... But it's still will be so hard on them... Jenn's family as well- it's one of those things that you never really recover from I imagine

Well, what happened to my family haunts me in the sense that I really hate murderers, and I really, really, hate murderers who smear a victim's name to divert suspicion from themselves. Imagine a situation where even the victim's sisters and parents were fooled by the murderer - that's what happened to us.

But I do believe Jennifer's children will recover. Losing their Mom (and possibly their dad) will always be with them, but they'll grow with it. And they had love when it mattered - when they were tiny - and they have love now. That'll see them through.

ETA: Didn't mean to imply there was any period between being tiny and now when children were not loved! I could have phrased that better. I just had the pics of Jennifer's little knitted things in my head. So lovely. Wish she could be here knitting now.

Oh no, we're waiting again, aren't we? To see if GR posts bail again..............

Hopefully they will put their money towards his 2 attorney's fees/defense will be very expensive. Not sure they can afford both.

Is there any indication as to when the trial will begin?

Not so quick update:

Family and community members arrived at the court house early and stood outside.

Remy arrived last, and came up the front steps to the courtroom where everyone else was waiting for the court to open. He was then escorted to the side door.

Jen's family sat on the right side of the aisle and took up most of that side of the courtroom. Behind Remy sat many people dressed in blue. His parents were not there. To the left of Remy and his two attorneys was the press box where 10 or so reporters sat.

Remy stood and answered the judge when asked if he was Ganesh Remy Ramsaran. He didn't speak after that. His attorney (Ackerman) said "not guilty" when asked how GR pleads. Bail was addressed first by DA McBride who said maybe two or three sentences, specifically mentioning flight risk and his enhanced drivers license.

Ackerman then stood and went on and on and on about why Remy (who he also admitted to knowing for just 4 days during this plea for bail) should get bail (daily check-ins, ankle monitoring, surrendering of his enhanced driver's license, and the attorney's need to meet with him "at various locations" including "Binghamton (no idea why he threw that in there).

Judge Revoir said that when he set the initial bail, he did so while bound to regulations while filling in for another judge who was unavailable at the time. He then went on to talk about the grand jury indictment since his initial appearance, the seriousness of the charge and the violent nature of the act, and then set bail at $500,000 cash or $1 million bond.

Deputies immediately handcuffed GR and escorted bystanders out of the courtroom. Outside, some press wanted interviews, but J4J'ers already planned a body-wall to shield them from the press (it worked). Joe Mahoney from the Daily Star, was the only one who respected their privacy (as far as I could tell).

People waited for Remy to come out the side door, clad in his bullet-proof vest. I had to leave, but did see some people give interviews. I'm painfully camera shy, so avoided them at all costs (except for Bear's). :)

All in all a great day!!!

Did he show any emotion when bail was increased, or when he was cuffed?

So does that mean he was limited in the amount of bail he could set forth in the first place?

To all that were able to be there today on behalf of Jenn and her family, and the many wanting Justice to be carried out THANK YOU!!! from all of us.

One day closer!!!

Abigail, and all who helped, Thank you. I have mainly been a lurker here. I posted initially about the "finding of the phone" being a big tip-off to me that Remy did it. I am embarrassed that when I read the first article about Jennifer being missing, that I told my husband, "It looks like some woman ran off with her online boyfriend." As the months went on, I kept reading and thinking, and reached the conclusion most here have. Our family has also been burned by Chenango County "justice." If a man goes to the Y with the judges who also go to the Y, there is extreme prejudicial favoritism. Our lives have been irrevocably ruined by this type of justice.
I am so grateful to everyone who participated on this board. I think you looked outside of yourselves to help where help was needed. My faith in mankind has been renewed thanks to all of you.

i couldn't tell. i was behind him so i couldn't see. and i think he was led out the exit toward the left front of the courtroom pretty quickly while everyone else was escorted out the back of the courtroom.

someone else mentioned the irony of the red "exit" sign with an arrow pointed down toward his head in one of the pics here:

http://www.wbng.com/news/local/Rams...ys-charges-209165761.html?gallery=y&img=1&c=y

trying to upload it, so we'll see if it works. (he is talking to his attorney Chamberlain) in the pic i'm trying to upload.

not sure. i paraphrased that, but it was as close to what i remember him saying. he gave no other explanation, but seemed intent on making sure that he pointed out why he was the judge during both arraignments. it sounded to me like yes, he was bound by regulations, but that since a grand jury indicted him, that upped the ante for "the people of the state of NY vs. Ganesh Remy Ramsaran #2013-57."

Wow!

GR and attorney had to enter through side door: very crowded, 50 peeps.

J4J mentioned by Matt Porter and some are on the video here:

http://www.wbng.com/news/local/Ramsaran-pleads-not-guilty-to-grand-jurys-charges-209165761.html

Cheers to Matt Porter and the rest of the WBNG team for their coverage of the arraignment!!

I just love the article, love the video, and love the photos. I liked the one photo where there's just a sea of blue behind GR in the courtroom. I liked Matt's comment that GR had to enter through the side door because so many people at the front door. SOOO proud of the locals who made it a point to be there to support Jennifer, wearing blue clothing and blue ribbons (kudos to the lady who made those!), to shield her family from the press, and to speak out to the press.:blowkiss:
