From the article:

“She’s very honest,” he said. “Regardless of the fact that she had an affair with him, she’s very reliable and very responsible, and she’s a person of integrity...”

Just a hunch, but I'm betting on cross examination, Eileen might have trouble convincing a jury of her honesty, reliability and integrity. Kind of hard to be all those things AND cheat on your own husband with your best friend's husband all at the same time. :waitasec:

*Not intended to bash ES, only to point out the hard-to-fathom character reference GR's attorney is throwing out there.

If she's the best character reference Ackerman can find, GR is sunk. :jail:

I guess Ackerman’s strategy (and GR’s too) could be to throw certain people under the bus, and hope the responsibility for Jen’s murder sticks to them and not to GR in a potential juror’s eyes.

I'm sure several people will be thrown under the bus before this is all said and done. <modsnip>
ETA: OK, now I'm done....sorry, but this was just too deliciously incongruous.

  • #643
It's pretty horrible to see people thrown under the bus by others wanting to save themselves. It's even worse to watch it happening when a person isn't there to defend themselves though. That's when it becomes completely unforgettable. And unforgiveable.

. . . and the horses have left the gate. I personally have waited a while to speak freely of ES, how she is a runner, how she still runs the same route her dear best friend was taken down to be dumped in a ditch, dead and naked. This must be her integrity.

She took her best friend shopping the week before she went missing to pretend to be her confidant, only to report back to GR of said secrets. This must be her honesty.

She stands by the man accused of her best friend's murder. This must be her reliability.

Priceless, Upstate!!

The article mentions she's a "material witness." I wasn't so sure what a material witness was, so I looked it up:
http://definitions.uslegal.com/m/material-witness/

"A material witness is a person who is presumed to have information about the subject matter of a lawsuit or criminal prosecution which is critical to the outcome of the case or trial."

So...more than just a character reference for GR. Does the prosecutor think Eileen is in possession of critical information?

According to this link, the court must make every effort to ensure that a material witness have the opportunity to testify -- including seeking an arrest warrant if the witness is likely to flee. "Release of a material witness may be delayed for a reasonable period of time until trial testimony"

I felt genuinely queasy reading this. And then I had another cry.

I am so, so sorry to hear this.

Jennifer deserved better.

And ES deserves GR.

Do you think that would include if they had recently applied for a passport and/or visa? Maybe in conjunction with someone else? Or their children?

No, that link didn't work for me. But nothing ever works for me on fb, because I'm not on it.

I did see a post from a man though, that saddened my heart just a little bit more.

I have not changed my opinion that murderers wreak damage wherever they go, and it is really not wise to associate yourself with them unless you are prepared to to be damaged and bear the burden for years to come.

GR's attorney has already shown his colors. Anybody could be thrown under the bus during the trial. His job is to look after his client. I would urge all witnesses to be totally, totally honest now. Don't be caught out in a courtroom, with stories that do not add up. Don't trust GR's attorney to look after you, because that is not his job. He will look after GR.

The truth will come out in this case, I am sure. People who want to come through it need to tell the truth now, and then maybe their lives, and the lives of their loved ones, will not be ruined beyond repair. Please, if anyone ever has the choice of throwing a murderer under the bus or saving themselves, throw the murderer.

You'll be doing us all a favor.

I don't know if I am allowed to say this but; I think Jennifer's best friend should say sorry to Jennifer publically, for betraying her.

Jennifer deserves that, at the least. It doesn't really matter if it is accepted or not. It is the very least Jennifer is owed.

It would be nice, but considering everything that was said/not said during her disappearance I highly doubt that a person like that could genuinely be sorry. :moo:

I am just hoping that all the nonsense gets aired out in court so the truth can be brought forth and justice can finally be done.

Does anyone think he would take the fall for someone else? I don't really either but it's been going thru my mind.

QUITE sure that any firm indications that ES is also a flight risk could result in her incarceration (or at the least an ankle bracelet) until the time of trial, to ensure her testimony can be heard.

Interesting comment on J4J today by someone who has been very quiet in all this, but who I was hoping would eventually have something to say. Not sure if I can link but I will give it a try

I think it's possible that GR could have been thrown under the bus by extended family.

I am certain he is not taking the fall for someone else.

JMO, but no. I don't think it is possible that the Remy I have come to know from his own words and media statements could ever consider such a selfless act.

Lol, I'd like to see GR try and talk his way around momrids6, or most of our other posters here.

Well, shame on the adults who dragged them into this.

They can be okay though. All they need is love, stability, honesty and just enough cash to get by. I am certain three children have exactly that now. And I am desperately hoping the other two will have it soon.

Although I have to say, if an account were to be set up for Jennifer's children, I'd be really tempted to donate. I know we aren't allowed to do that kind of thing here, but I would really like to see it somewhere 'out there'. You never know. Upstate might update us - he/she is all official now!

PS: I still think you're wild upstate, even with the stamp of authority!
