Thanks Solus, that makes sense. The newspaper article only mentioned ES as a material witness. I wonder who else will be called? Also, the former lawyer that got ditched is saying Jennifer couldn't have died at home because "people" saw her that day. Why is this the first anyone has heard of that? I mean, back when she was missing, we were told that the last person who saw her was GR. Wouldn't this person or persons who supposedly saw her that day have spoken up back then? Is he just blowing smoke or what?

IIRC, a woman wrote a comment in the newspaper under an article about Jen's case, stating that Jennifer was seen running in town somewhere. I haven't seen that reference anywhere but in a comment in either The Evening Sun or the Oneonta Daily Star. It was a bogus rumor, from what I gather.

Anyone else remember this? I think the commenter's name was Lina and she described what she thought Jennifer was wearing.

Questions:

1) Why should a group of citizens promoting justice for a murder victim be concerning to the judge?
2) Why should a high-profile case be concerning to the judge?

I think judges, especially in small, rural communities are having difficulty adjusting to the community's presence in social media. It's like were almost silenced and walking on eggshells about what we say on J4J now. We don't want to have any negative affect on jury bias and all that jazz.

But...on the other hand, what about FB posts that GR made, practically begging people not to search for his wife? Remember that? I read a recent article that said that social media posts can be used in court proceedings. I don't know how they can be used or the rules and regs pertaining to this though. Interesting stuff. Remember that party GR threw while his wife was still missing? Yet he gave tearful pleas in front of the cameras while being interviewed about Jen? Hmmmmm

Peter Wlasiuk, was a local man who was tried and convicted three times for the murder of his wife in Norwich. That must have cost a fortune. Bet they don't want a repeat of that mess...

Also, three trials for Cal Harris, about an hour or two away...and much media on that one, for murder of his still-missing wife Michelle, in 2001. I think he is about to be tried for the third time soon. Both of his first two convictions were overturned on appeal. He comes from a prominent family in the area and had lots of friends and lots of enemies. So lots of local gossip, changed stories, etc. jmo

A week and a half. The first two days are expected to be jury selection. So the trial will probably start that Friday.

I love Joe.. I do worry about this "largely circumstantial" case though :(

No need to be worried. All that means is that they do not have a witness to the crime. Witness testimony is direct evidence; everything else (forensic evidence like DNA, ballistics, cell phone records, fingerprints, etc.) is 'circumstantial'. I wouldn't be surprised if the case is entirely circumstantial, as I doubt there is any witness to the crime other than GR himself.

Not only was he practically begging people not to search, but he deleted the post of a certain someone :) who tried to organize one, early on, and I believe that person was banned from the FB page after that, if I'm not mistaken.

And didn't his mistress post on that same FB page some false rumors about Jennifer?

Does anyone know if the trial will be televised? If not, do we have some locals lined up to keep us up to date here?

Wow! About 400 in the jury pool! I guess it's hard to find 12 people in Chenango County that either don't know JR or GR or ES, or aren't the hubby :) or other close relative or friend of a J4J person

I so love the hubby part!!! It will be interesting. :) Also I plan on being there daily!

I was checking my flower tubs this morning, doing a bit of deadheading, and I saw that one of my forget-me-nots has sent up a single flower spike, a couple of months past their usual season. As they were planted for Jennifer the spring after she went missing, I thought the timing was perfect.

Thanks for posting~ it's a great news story, except I think the lady's map is wrong -- she's got Jen's body being found a very long way from where the phone was found -- and in the opposite direction from their home.

I also think the journalist was wrong in stating that Jennifer was unaware of her husband's affair -- that may be what Remy said, but "the truth always comes out."

Ramsaran took notes and appeared at ease all day, at times with his feet up, smiling and joking with security guards and his new attorney, Gilberto Garcia of Hackensack, NJ.

He did show grief and cry a bit at one point during the defense's questioning of the jury, when Garcia asked the juror pool if any of them had ever been wrongly accused of something they didn't do.

Also, view video at link above:

If potential jurors followed the case on FB, they were immediately dismissed. Also, prosecution warned potential jurors that trial will be filled w/disturbing and unusual issues incl "deception, graphic evidence, adulterous relationships and sexually explicit content..."
