Both sides can give their closing statements in AM tomorrow, then jury will have rest of day to deliberate (probably won't take long). I'm expecting a verdict mid-afternoon tomorrow.

I hope so! A long deliberation wouldn't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

Thank this post if you think the Prosecution has proven their case!

MOO - I think the 'proof' is in the fact that they have removed any defense RR had (videos, interviews etc.), established motive (ES, $) and showed that RR had the opportunity (not at computer, phone in house when he said she was gone etc.)

Sorry - not very well written - I do believe that the totality of the evidence shows BARD that RR is guilty of murdering Jennifer.

So does asking the judge to deliver the verdict mean defense wanted to cut the jury out of the decision process?

I haven't even heard this term before. Any legal -ish eagles around?

I so hope we get lots of tweets from the closings. I really want hear them. Or rather, read. I think GR's lawyer is a little too dramatic for my ears.

And I am glad GR found himself unable to take center stage because he'd be his own worst enemy. That must be incredibly frustrating for him.

Standard procedure for defense to request a judgement of acquittal (based on insufficient evidence) when state rests its case. This judgement is rarely given, because the case wouldn't have made its way past the initial hearings for the Grand Jury to send it to trial if there wasn't sufficient evidence.

Is this common not having any defense?? I can't recall a case I have watched that didn't call anyone ???

I was thinking the same thing Z about money and computer experts. But nobody not even forensic people with no cause of death??? I find it odd to go to trial and not put on a defense.

RE: cellphone screenshot
I know that I've accidentally taken a screenshot on my iPhone when I was actually trying to TURN OFF MY PHONE...I've done this more than 1x. Wondering if he was trying to turn off her phone...can't have it showing/registering at home when she reportedly left for a shopping trip.

The day is early I wonder why closing wasn't today?

Gives the lawyers time to incorporate the recent testimony into their closing arguments. Plus, there wouldn't be much time for jurors to start deliberating today anyway.

Inconsistencies noted in Ramsaran’s statements

By: Ashley Babbitt, Managing Editor
Published: September 17th, 2014

Cobb recalled some inconsistencies with Ramsaran’s prior voluntary statements to police. More specifically, Ramsaran said in March that on the morning of Jennifer’s disappearance, he had gone for a run from his Sheff Road home westbound down Route 23, took a left onto Wells Road, and ran to the top of the hill. He then turned around to go back to Route 23, then made his way to Rexford Street, Silver Street, then Mitchell Street in the City of Norwich.

Cobb said the Wells Road and City of Norwich street names were additions Ramsaran had not included in prior discussions.

On the audio recording, when asked by detectives if Ramsaran had touched Jennifer’s iPhone after finding it at the bottom of Moonhill Road in the Town of Plymouth, Ramsaran said no. Ramsaran said he found the phone by using the “Find My iPhone” app, then called 911.

“I never went down there, no way,” Ramsaran said on the recording.

In one call, Ramsaran said it was the first time he had ever been in jail. “I’ve never even [expletive] smoked a cigarette and they’re looking at me,” said Ramsaran to Sayles on the phone. “I have seven college degrees and I’ve worked my [expletive] off.”:tantrum:

seven???:notgood:

Apparently GR believes that a non-smoker with a college degree (or two, or seven) gets a pass on murdering his wife. :weaklink:

Ramsaran declines to take the stand or offer witnesses in murder case

After District Attorney Joseph McBride rested the prosecution's case, and with the jury out of the courtroom, defense attorney Gil Garcia asked for the jury to visit the sites where the victim's body was recovered and where her iPhone was recovered, but was turned down by Revoir.
