Now that's some really crazy hair!! Someone on the J4J FB site opined that he was changing his appearance in preparation for the escape. Until these new photos were taken after he newest arrest (funny that one can be arrested while already in jail), all that was available were him looking really clean-cut.

Here's two "before and after" photos posted side by side in this article: http://wibx950.com/chenango-county-inmate-facing-bribery-charges/

He appears to have lost weight since the end of his trial 5 weeks ago. Kinda hard to tell with the beard, but his neck and shoulders look thinner. Almost surely changing his appearance in prep for escape. This will probably mean that when he's sentenced for the murder that he's sent to a max security facility rather than medium.

If that was his reason for the beard, his thinking is illogical. His guards would know his appearance currently doesn't match his intake photo. If he were to escape, wouldn't they pull a still shot depicting his current appearance, and submit that to LE, FBI, the media?

Yes, his guards would know he'd changed his appearance, but they don't run around taking photos of inmates every few weeks. Those 2 photos of him with a beard were probably taken yesterday, after he was arrested for the bribery charges. So, if he'd managed to successfully escape, the only photos that would be available would be his previous mug shot, and all the recent photos from the trial and Dateline, where he's wearing a suit or collared dress shirt, clean shaven, hair neatly slicked back, and puffy, overweight face. Even if the beard, longer hair, and (apparent) weight loss were included in the description, there would be no photos, and he really does look completely different now.

Hello! I followed this case from day one, as a lurker, and was confident the outcome of the trial would be in favor of justice. (I wish I'd have gotten involved and provided input throughout, but I was SO impressed with the attention WS'ers gave to this case that I was ok with silently reading, nodding my head in agreement with the majority of the posts). In some strange way, I hated to see it all end - but here we go--it doesn't surprise me that GR would once again put himself into the limelight. This is the most interesting (but heartwrenching) case I've read in the few years I've been lurking--I'm looking forward to the sentencing...and closing the loop in my mind/heart, since I've now decided to join WS and get involved, and hopefully help out somewhere, somehow!

I do have to add...I like to watch Dateline, and I realize that there needs to be a bit of "mystery" or conflict added to the mix for viewer entertainment, but I was disappointed and a bit frustrated... I guess because of what I've learned by following the case here, and what wasn't mentioned.

I was thinking they'd be able to get still photos of him from the prison security camera system. He must be on their security tapes, moving from point A to point B, in a beard.

Sky Metawala's mother looked pretty different from her FB and DL photos when Sky went missing. To jar people's memories if they saw her and anything suspicious at the time he went missing, they released still shots from cameras at the bank she went into just before he went missing.

So if there are cameras that actually record continuously in the prison, he'd be on them, IMO, and they could create a still shot.

ETA: I just realized he's still at the county jail so I'm not sure their camera system would be set up like a prison's would.

But still easy enough to show his picture and say, "At time of escape, suspect had full beard."

OK, good point. And yes, I'm pretty sure that they have the camera system -- looks like it here in this photo from Chenango County jail pagecontrol.jpg

Thinking he may not be allowed to use a razor? BUt I like the idea he was planning his escape and assuming a new identity! :escape::hilarious:

Huh! Kinda looks like the bridge of the Enterprise. :ufo: And the 'specific method' Remy was going to try to use was the Transporter! :drumroll:

Ha ha!! I'm guessing you've been wanting to use that smilie for some time!

WTH??!!

Someone is holding his passport/s for him, in my opinion. I still believe he always planned to flee the US, but difficulties in collecting cash and then the unexpected arrest stopped him. He was implementing the old plan, I think, and in my opinion others have to be involved. I wish police could find out what passports he's holding, because I'm certain he has at least one, no matter what he says.

I think he'll try to appeal and/or escape again. But when he reaches the end of the line, I think there's a very high risk GR will kill himself. He's that type of personality, in my opinion.

Hang on - didn't GR say he couldn't pay his former attorney's legal bill of $70,000? Maybe that attorney will want to stake a claim to that $100,000 bribery money. Or, maybe GR should be made to hand it over, to help support the children he's effectively orphaned. Very well done to the officer for reporting the bribery attempt promptly, anyhow.

This escape attempt must have been really worrying news for Jennifer's family. I feel so sorry for them. They've been through so much and GR just keeps it coming. :(
