“Jennifer will never again rise with the sun,” Revoir said. “Any moments of joy are beyond Jennifer’s having.”

“How absolutely disgusting,” said Revoir. “Words cannot describe the visual image of you pushing her out of the family van down an embankment. You had no sadness, no regrets, and no remorse”

Revoir said Ramsaran gave the illusion of a distraught husband.

While Revoir was speaking, under Ramsaran’s breath he said, “Great acting job.”

“You should win an academy award for your ability to cry,” said Revoir.

“So without sadness, without regret, and without remorse, the court sentences you to an indeterminate sentence of 25 to life in the NYS Dept. of Corrections,” said Revoir.

McBride said arrangements would be made for Ramsaran to be picked up and transferred today.

Since the guilty verdict was handed down by the jury, Ramsaran has been arrested and was later indicted on Nov. 19, 2014 for the charge of bribery in the second degree, a class C felony.

According to McBride, Ramsaran could be facing 15 years in the New York State Department of Corrections, and said that the years for the bribery charge — if convicted — could run consecutive to the 25-to-life sentence handed down by the Chenango County Court for his second degree murder charge.

“See you at appeal in two years,” said Ramsaran to Revoir before being escorted out of the courtroom.

McBride said later he had never seen a defendant act with such "disrespect" towards a jurist.

Following the sentencing, Ganesh Ramsaran was transfered to the custody of the state Department of Correctional Services. He is expected to remain at Elmira Correctional Facility for several weeks while he undergoes classification screening, after which he will be sent to another maximum security prison.

I want to say I'm shocked - and I am at his behavior to the judge, but at the same time he just couldn't keep it together for 30 minutes and that's not surprising and that part didn't shock me. His words shocked me...WTH??

I love what the judge said. He's right disgusting sums it up.

My understanding on the sentence is that he will be eligible in 25 years to be released, BUT that there is no end to his sentence since it's "life" and he can be denied indefinitely.

As opposed to 25-50 years where he "could" be released at 25-49 if granted, but by 50 he's out no matter what.

Is this right? Assuming it makes sense. It does in my head lol

I looked it up, and, yes, an "indeterminate" sentence means the possibility of being released in 25 years (when he'll be about 64), if he can demonstrate to the parole board that he has been rehabilitated, is remorseful for his actions, etc.

And, there's the rub. He would have to pull himself together enough to show due respect to the board, something he consistently failed to do with the judge in trial, and, even more appallingly, during his sentencing today. And...he'd have to at least be able to do a good job of faking remorse. His fake grief didn't fool anyone, well not anyone with a grain of common sense. But...25 years is a long time...perhaps he'll take time to analyze how his actions, and not Jen's actions, not the judge or jury or either of the lawyers, how his actions brought him to the place where he is now. I doubt that'll happen, and I doubt he'll even be able to fool any parole board. But he did manage to fool several silly, gullible women with low self esteem, so who knows?

The Chain Gang
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eV7Zuft17Y

(Hoh! Ah!) I hear something saying (Hoh! Ah!)

(Hoh! Ah!)(Well don't you know)
That's the sound of the men,
Working on the chain, ga-ang
That's the sound of the men,
Working on the chain, gang

All day long they're singing (Hoh! Ah!)

(Well don't you know)
That's the sound of the men,
Working on the chain, ga-ang
That's the sound of the men,
Working on the chain, gang

All day long they work so hard till the sun is going down
Working on the highways and byways and wearing, wearing a frown
You hear they moaning their lives away
Then you hear somebody say

That's the sound of the men,
Working on the chain, ga-ang...

Don't think I've ever seen anyone standing like him in court before ... feet crossed, leaning on desk ... as if he is just shooting the breeze with his pals.

Wonder how he'll look in 2038.

Indeed! So very glad that Jennifer's children are safe in the arms of her parents and away from that insolent, horrible, violent man. He truly needed to be removed from society.

"Ramsaran's outbursts surprised District Attorney Joseph McBride, who says in his 30 year career, he's never seen anything quite like it.

"Most of the defendants who are convicted of homicides usually attack the prosecutor or the police who are involved, and that's the normal expectation. For him to personally attack the judge today was out of bounds of any decency," McBride said."
