OSWEGO -- New York State Police are asking the public for help finding an Oswego man missing since Friday.

State police seek help in locating town of Scriba man missing since 2012

John T. Humphrey, 50, went missing June 1, 2012 from the Sumatra Apartment complex located on Birch Lane in the town of Scriba.

He was last seen walking on state Route 104 in the town of New Haven on June 2, 2012, near the New Haven Fire Dept, according to state police. Humphrey is 5-feet 6-inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds.

A daughter continues to look for answers about her father— an Oswego County man who went for a walk four years ago, and never came home.

"It was my senior ball night. I came home and I was told he went missing and in the back of my mind I was thinking he will come back. He knows his way back home. Then, a month went by...then a year. Now, four years later, still nothing,” said Beverly Humphrey.

Beverly’s father, John Humphrey, was last seen walking along State Route 104 in the Town of New Haven, not far from the fire department. It was 11:30 on the morning of June 2, 2012.

Details of Disappearance​

Humphrey was last seen in New Haven, New York at 11:30 a.m. on June 2, 2012. He left his apartment at the Sumatra Apartment complex on Birch Lane in Scriba, New York, and was last seen walking along State Route 104B in New Haven. He has never been heard from again.

Humphrey has relatives in West Monroe, New York. He is a military veteran and may seek treatment in Veterans Affairs (VA) hospitals. Few details are available in his case.

Mr. Humphrey’s remains were found on Sept. 1 in a wooded area on private property. Confirmed identified. No foul play suspected at this time and COD is undetermined pending further examination.

On Sept. 1, the property owner of 451 Darrow Road in the Town of New Haven was clearing a trail through wooded property when he found what appeared to be human remains.

The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report, and through DNA comparison, the remains were positively identified as belonging to John T. Humphrey, born Nov. 21, 1963, of Oswego.
