The friends story never made sense to me. If he was going to stay over the one friends house that night why would he leave on his own to find "help". They were close to the one friend's house if I recall, why not all head there and make a call? Who's around or open at 3am to provide help? If he didnt go for help why storm off alone? You'd storm off if you were arguing or fighting about something, but the friends did not elude to that. Sounds like someone knows something in that friends group.
