I am not caught up on Vanessa's thread (will try to find it now), but is it possible that she and Karina posted on similar social network sites and could have both been the victims of one stalker who first noticed them online?

The quality of some of her photos, along with the short film and the high internet exposure, makes me wonder if Karina might not have unwittingly subjected herself to sexual predators or stalkers. I also wonder if she ever posted on sites like Model Mayhem, which is a stomping ground for the worst kinds of sexual predators. I haven't seen the rooftop photo yet, but if WSers could see the 92nd St sign in that photo, so could anyone obsessed with Karina. Not hard to figure out where to go, and then wait for an opportunity. In addition to those things, we also have neighbors interviewed on camera who talk about seeing Karina on jogs, and commenting about how she really made mens heads turn.Not hard to imagine some neighbor seeing her out alone this one time, and seizing an opportunity. It just seems VERY odd to me that on the ONE day her father doesn't go with her on a jog is the very day she ends up dead. I could absolutely be wrong in this, but my gut is telling me this wasn't just a random encounter with a stranger. JMO

There's a lot of confusion with the reporting. For example, I have read that this was not the first time that K. did that run without her father. I have read that joggers, people on bikes regularly use that area.i have also read that no one ever goes there,as it is so remote.
The photos look like they were professionally done, but I didn't think of . As to her maybe modeling ? She was beautiful enough to do that. jmo

I'm very conflicted about the wisdom of KV's blog. Not the artistic value of it...her writing is superb. And I know we live in the age of the Karadashians ...where it's accepted to put your most private moments out there for everyone to view. But the Karadashians have mega-security and many protections against those who might read a blog like KV's...watch her movie...read her descriptions of her intimate encounters...and realize...this is just an neighborhood girl with a repetitive jogging routine...that takes her into vulnerable places.

The Instagram picture...plus this Blog...made KV...accessible...to all sorts of individuals. Not everyone is interested in the artistic value.

We live in the world we have...not the world we want. Please don't think I'm blaming KV...this beautiful talented girl. But I'm am questioning how safe it is...these days...to have such intimate posts on the Internet for open view.

According to news reports and even direct quotes from police at times as per media, the story ranges: There were no signs of obvious trauma, she had visible bruising all over her body, there were visible signs of strangulation. A tooth was cracked, her teeth were cracked from biting the killer, her teeth were smashed in the attack, she never knew what hit her and was grabbed, she fought back, she was knocked out as she was grabbed and dragged. She was a writer, she received a degree in Communications, she was a speech therapist, she was working as a waitress, she worked in a lounge, she was a caterer in a lounge also working as a speech pathologist.

For some reason, the narrative about this victim has created a mythical image in place of what, from what I can tell, has been truly confirmed. I find this sad because the image of the victim starts to override the person who was actually murdered. No matter what she was in life and where she worked, or whether we say "caterer" vs "waitress' or "therapist" vs "pathologist", or whether or not she fought back like a trooper, she died on a jogging trail doing what was her business and no one else's - all because a pathetic coward who hunts women who can't see him coming wanted a victim that day. You hear about victims who are poor or unattractive or unknown to a community as being 'lesser' victims in the eyes of the media and greater culture. But I think it's equally unfair for a beautiful woman with a fit body to become a poster character for fighting off her perp with valor. Maybe it's all true and she gave this perp a run for his money. Part of me hopes for her sake that she got some licks in. But that also means she was conscious, and then I hope she was in fact knocked out and never knew a thing.

Whatever the case, no victim image is a 'good' one.

So, I just hope the police can find this individual before he kills the next woman, which I believe is a given if he's not caught in short order. Even if it was someone who saw her film or passed her in a bar or didn't like Italian girls with firefighter fathers, or whatever his deal may have been, I seriously doubt that his homicidal behavior is confined to 'getting' Karina.

I've lost a child. It's scathing. I wish her parents peace. And I wish the police a huge stroke of luck. I'm sure they are frustrated.

The photos are beautiful. With all the camera apps and ways to apply filters it is pretty easy these days to make pictures look professional. I have alot of friends on facebook posting some really beautiful pictures (and they are beautiful) but the filters can really change things! I have no idea if that is what Karina did just pointing it out.

A term which Karinas mother used, when she adressed the killer in public, was that K. believed in "Karma" a lot - and also the consequences which could result out of that. Her mother thought about the consequences for the killer.
Would you say, "Mountain_Kat", that making such photos and short films Karina did could also be seen as a metapher for something Karma-related which could results into something bad because such pics could make some potential sexual predator becomming obsessed?

Also, as a newbie to websleuth.com, i wonder if such informations like if the victim of a crime was a member of sites like "model mayhem" (as you speculate in your post), should be made public here if we have such informations - regarding the aspect of keeping the dignity of a victim of a crime. I am just curious how you handle such issues here.

No, I never thought of either. I thought of legit modeling. But this will help give you an idea of the dangers of some of these websites, photographers and talent agents.

Regarding the profiler that commented on the two cases (Karina in NY and Vanessa in MA), she revealed something that hasn't been shared yet. This was posted above, but I'm sharing it again here:

"Karina Vetrano, New York City woman who was killed jogging the week prior. A man attacked Vetrano by hitting her over the head with a rock and dragging her body into a nearby wooded area.

Following a struggle, Vetrano was strangled so forcefully her neck was almost broken."

I had been thinking that Karina was attacked by more than one person, but if this rock report is correct, I revise my theory to it being one perp. I think if there were two, they wouldn't need a rock to subdue her.

The information of the rock changes the situation for me, though I can't help but wonder WHY the profiler shared that information when LE has not. I wonder if she was not supposed to! (Or is she incorrect?)

As I drove by Vetro today on my way to the beach, it crossed my mind how she worked there and came across many men at the bar. I wonder if Vetro workers noticed if any of the regulars have not been around since Karina's murder.

Up until that thought I always thought it was a stranger and crime of opportunity. But I just had this weird feeling as I drove by there today.
