I can’t believe that they showed it on tv. With the information that was had, they didn’t need to show a body being dragged on the news

How frightening.
The elderly do not have a chance to defend themselves, and are possibly shocked when they realize what the murderer has in mind.
It has been reported, one body has been mutilated.
These creeps must never be released and hope their time in prison is extremely horrid.
MOO.

This is absurd! Why in the heck kill two elderly women? And to think, a grandma, at one point in life excitedly awaiting her grandson's birth, his first steps, first words, first days of school, and fast forward to today, being afraid as he killed her. How in the world does that happen??!?!

And the other victim, wanting a place to live, and now murdered.

I'm with other posters in that I don't think I've ever seen evidence of someone dragging a body posted on SM!!! During a trial we may have seen that video, but before her body had even be found?!?! What are people thinking in posting that stuff?? With the murderer in an induced coma, there may not be a trial, but, those posting that video probably didn't know that! How you not realize you had evidence, call the police to come see it, and keep your mouth quiet?!?! I don't understand. I pray I never understand! This generation of sharing everything on SM is bizarre to me. I'm glad all we had was polaroids, or other cameras that likely the film never got developed! I don't think I would want every move of my life to have been recorded for future employers, and my future offspring to see! Yes we lived and had fun, but we sure didn't brag to our parents about it, or fellow church members!

The bad part about it is the "cameraman" names where the victim was missing from. So, he knew that he had evidence, while filming! Ugh. It was truly horrific for me, also.

I was quite surprised to see them play some of that video. When I initially saw it on SM, there was a comment under the post that stated the police had been notified by the person who videoed it.

It breaks my heart that the landlord had rented the apartment because she was lonely. You’d feel pretty safe as an elderly woman, to rent to another elderly woman. So very sad.

Katerine Aubain's Body Found, Case Now Double Homicide

Utica Police have confirmed that they have recovered the body of a woman that they believe to be Katerine Aubain, 90, of Utica. Aubain had been the focus of a search on Monday after the mutilated body of another woman was found in a Tilden Ave home Sunday night. The body was found with the help of the Oneida County Sheriff Department Monday evening. Police say that the positive identification will be made by the Medical Examiner's office. Once that is completed, the identification of the two victims will be released.

“Man accused in double homicide to be arraigned tonight”

“Police discovered the body of 90-year-old Katerine Aubain in Clayville late Monday night. Some of the dismembered remains of the second victim, 87-year-old Jane Wentka, previously had been found in her residence Sunday. Other remains were found nearby on Albany Street.

Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara said prosecutors intended to arraign Naythen Aubain on two counts of first-degree murder Tuesday evening, just a few hours after he was released from a local hospital. But many questions still surround the case — including how long the two women had been dead before they were discovered.

[SBM]

Upon entering the home [on Tilden Avenue], police found the the partial, dismembered body of the Aubains' landlord, Wentka, in the ground-floor apartment where she lived, said Sgt. Michael Curley of the Utica Police Department.

‘Police found body parts of Wentka inside her apartment, and her torso and head were found along Albany Street,’ McNamara said regarding how the investigation progressed.

Katerine Aubain initially was reported missing, but by Monday night, authorities announced that they believed they had found her dismembered remains in a shallow grave along the 2000 block of Oneida Street in Clayville at a small park area where electric power equipment sits.

Police say an initial assessment suggests both women were stabbed.

According to state Department of Corrections information, an individual of the same name and age as Naythen Aubain previously served a five-year sentence in Auburn Correctional Facility for a second-degree robbery conviction.

I’m February 2018, Aubain was charged with Second-degree harassment and criminal obstruction of breathing stemming from an incident with his grandmother, Curley confirmed. His case was transferred to a mental health court.

Looking toward the future, McNamara said he expects Naythen Aubain will attempt a psychiatric defense to his murder charges.

‘We'll have to hire a forensic psychiatrist to analyze the entire thing,’ he added.

[SC, who lives two doors down from the crime scene] remembered both Wentka and Katerine Aubain.

‘She was always a hard worker,’ Corabi said of the former. ‘She would be out there in her yard working.’

She remembered Aubain as a woman who took care of her grandson. ‘She was such a nice lady. She did everything for him,’ she
said
